Fanning The Flames: Syracuse - St. John's Game

Looking back in all fairness, I don't think that anything that poster stated was really inflammatory and some good natured rubbing with rivals can be fun sometimes. Also, just to end the debate before it starts, it was not Joe lol.

Most Can Not Post Anonymously. Their syntax follows them around. Also their rose colored glasses.
 
the more important things that the game is at 12 on fox sports. i am kind of surprised because i thought this game would be on espn or cbs.
 
I wouldn't trash talk until AFTER we beat their Orange asses. Until then, they are the much better team and much better program. Even then, LAvin has to string together 10-15 successful seasons in a row before we can even suggest our program compares to theirs.
 
Going to other schools' boards to talk crap, bad mouthing other schools on Twitter, bad mouthing recruits on Twitter, etc. are just totally lame moves.

Go to the games and have a back & forth with their fans during the game. In person.

But all this other stuff just looks so bad.
 
I think the game will be closer than it has been in the past few years but I think it is silly to start predicting that we will beat them. We have improved our talent level and depth but they are a top program that just replaces the departing players will equally talented ones. I don't see much, if any, drop off in their talent level from last year.

I couldn't tell who the poster was---assuming he is one of us. He obviously did not post from an Ipad because there were no N's or B's where a space should have been.
 
It would annoy me if a fan of another team came on this board to talk trash. I find it interesting when fans of other team provide occasional information on the schools they root for.
 
I don't know about his history on that board but honestly thought he was trying to have decent conversation with them about the game. Nothing he said was insane, he didn't make any outlandish predictions. His original point was that we were at least as athletic as them which I think is true.

He gave cuse plenty of credit. And with that being said I cannot wait until that game, lets beat the shit out of them for once.

I agree with everything you said, i didnt see where he was talking crap or saying STJ would win easily.

To your point about Cuse, I have had Dec 15th circled on my calendar since they announced that date, we owe them a beating. This has to be the year. I'm sick of them
 
Why the outrage? Whoever it is definitely was not inflammatory in any way. I think he had a perfectly reasonable point...though we may lose to Cuse by 20 again, no one should deny that we are every bit as talented and deep as them this year. We have the horses to do it. If there is any time to beat Cuse it's this year. We are way overdue and if we can't do it with this loaded roster, chances are it may be a LONG time before we do it again.

Just curious, if they are ranked #8 preseason, isn't the consensus that St. John's ISN'T every bit as talented as Syracuse?

Cuse loses a ton of scoring punch. Yes Ennis is likely to be great but who knows? For every diamond you find, you will get a few duds. Plus rankings are greatly based on the previous year of work and Cuse went to the Final Four. SJU is also vastly underrated in most of the media. I like it that way though...let us stun them. Things will get even tougher for Cuse now with Duke and UNC in their way. They have most of the old Big East plus the very best ACC powers they have to get past now. I see Cuse as more of a #15-17 team, not top 10.

I agree that the comments were not inflammatory. That being said, it does take a certain level of "hutpah" to saying anything on their board given how dominant of a program they've been compared to us over the last 10-15 years.

Somebody had posted STJ hasn't beaten them since 2006. I think our last legit shot was the BE tourney game , Lavin's first year. I think we could have won that game if DJ doesnt get hurt. I don't think we have come within 15 points since

The BE tourney game was HOPEFUL, but we hadn't played consistently well at all for a month at that point, since Brownlee broke a finger.
