Really, then how would you explain a 4th place Big East finish and no invite? Please tell me the last time a 4th place finish in the Big East didn't get an invite Im really curious cause I can't remember one.
The Big East as a whole was fairly terrible: 6th Conference on Kenpom (most years we are top 3 or 4); only 3 top 50 Kenpom teams
2019 the 4th, 5th and 6th seeds did not make the NCAA, but we did as the 7th seed.
How about the home game we lost (as in canceled) vs a ncaat 7 seed uconn. Mind you we already beat them at their place earlier in the year. That couldn’t have been a factor in the team not being able to build a tourney resume? A home game vs a clear tourney team? If we win it’s a big boost and if we played and lost, we wouldn’t have finished 4th.
We weren’t good enough to make the tourney. It wasn’t our schedule makers fault.

Well with Florida State losing to Stetson and Temple losing to Wagner tonite, it looks like our OOC schedule is even worse then formerly imagined. Now a loss to Florida State or Temple could be devastating but a win will do nothing for our SOS rating.
Too early to say one way or another. Both or one of Florida State and Temple could end up having a solid season.
And here we are complaining about a 25 point win.

That’s a silly response. I don’t think anyone is complaining about the margin of victory but going forward there are some things that need to be improved upon. And again, this level of competition tells you very little about how the team will respond to a legit opponent. Certainly, not getting back defensively on numerous occasions giving up wide open threes is a genuine concern for a team that has had this issue since this staff arrived.
Very true but it could have been worse. Creighton was losing with 9+ minutes to play to a far worse team. Now that's a team that should be worried.
It was meant to be silly. Were worried about the things we didn’t do well enough in a 25 point win when there’s power conference teams who lost to cupcakes last night.
Obviously, we (and everybody else) want the teams on our schedule to perform as well as possible except for when we play them. But I’m more concerned with winning the games we have, opposed to how the teams were eventually gonna face may have done.

Who knows why some teams struggled? Perhaps they were not prepared, had new personnel or the teams they played were better then predicted. If St. John’s played the team that Creighton played (with a few 4 star HS players om it), I’m not sure the johnnies wouldn’t have struggled as well.
The way I view a contest like last nights is after I see how weak the opponent is, I try to focus on what St. John’s will need to do better going forward against quality competition since winning by 15 or 55 is meaningless in such a contest.
St Thomas of Minnesota had a few 4 star recruits? I’m asking genuinely.
You seem ready to give those other teams the benefit of the doubt but not ours. What if the teams we are scheduled to play are also better than predicted?

As far as four star recruits.... St. Thomas has zero. They have three mid-tier to low-end three star recruits.

Do you really believe that if the Johnnies had 29 turnovers against a half way decent team they would have won? You seem to be over hyping a performance based on a pretty poor opponent.
Can you give me an example of something I said you think was over hyped?
Or answer either of the other questions I asked?
If you saw anything I said about last nights game you’d know I thought exactly that. We played way too sloppy. Saying “and here we are complaining about 25 point wins” was a joke. As in here all of us are, myself included, nitpicking a 25 point win, when it could be SO much worse. And we know it could be worse, because well we are St. John’s fans.

In terms of answering your question re. St Thomas talent….. here ya go.
The Tommies signing class of 2022 student athletes is ranked #52 of 368 schools according to Rivals.com. Additionally, only three of the top-50 ranked classes are mid-major schools. I believe their recruiting class was ranked higher then St Johns.
In terms of individual talent… Ahjany Lee from the 22 class is 4 star on all sites and Carter Bjerke on some sites is a 4 star as well.
Look, there’s an fraud on this site that says everything i say has no merit just to constantly start crap and has been given the go ahead to do so cause of his longevity on the site, but I don’t make things up.
In terms of something you said to overhype, well when you say that I’m undermining StJohns competition, then you are implying that Merrimack may have been good.
Thanks for the info. Didn’t assume you had made anything up. I was surprised that they would have a few four star recruits. Everything I saw had Ahjany Lee as a 3 star who at one point was a 4 star. Couldn’t find Bjerke on a quick search. I don’t get caught up on rankings but getting a kid there who’s even in that 3/4* realm is impressive. Good for them. My reference about the teams on our schedule potentially being better than they were advertised was about our future opponents. You’ve mentioned over and over how poor our schedule is, but also pointed out that maybe the teams other teams are facing are better than they’re supposed to be. My only point is, why couldn’t that be the case with the teams on our schedule as well?
