(EXHIBITION) Michigan (MSG), Sat., Oct. 25, 7p, Big Ten+

Everybody killing Ian Jackson after two exhibition games just remember the start Kadary got off to last year and everybody was calling him a bust and then at the end of the year we always wanted him to have the ball in his hands. This team has a ton of talent and the outside shooting will improve there are plenty of shooters on this squad. I much rather have them have a terrible shooting night in a game that doesn’t count then in a regular season game.

So would we all on your last sentence. 😇

If he was out 3 days with a sprained ankle Pitino was an absolute idiot to take that kind of risk by playing him. Personally, I throw the BS card because Pitino is FAR, FAR from an idiot.

Gee , there are 42 guys or more on this site , who would request you to be suspended for 3 games by saying Pitno would ever throw a BS card at a question he doesn’t want to answer honestly .
It doesn’t make sense to play Jackson in any situation with a Ankle injury .

Would Pitino risk racing 1 of his Thoroughbred horses with a bad leg or , any other ailment ?

Nah , he wouldn’t ..

Your post was a good one . Honest . .

No one is killing him, he has played poorly and looks uncomfortable on the court. I have not seen one post that has even remotely killed him.
He is certainly needed and hopefully gets it together but that doesn’t change one iota how he has played to date.
Killing a player is what happened on this board to Luis after the Arkansas game.

+/- is basically the raw net number of points a team scores when a particular player is on the court.

NBA Plus-Minus, a.k.a. +/-, simply keeps track of the net changes in the score when a given player is either on or off the court. To calculate plus-minus in basketball, subtract the points scored by the opponent from the points scored by the player's team while that player is on the court. For a game, you can sum the point differential of each of the player's stints on the court, or you can simply find the final score difference during all their playing time. For a positive plus-minus, the team must score more points than the opponent; a negative number means the opponent outscored the team

Often times it's a flawed stat as it's not really something one player can control
Thanks for the explanation.

Team points for/against when you are on the floor.
I struggle with it as a basketball stat. It has some relevance, but also association is not causation - just because the team went up 10 or down 10 when you're on the floor doesn't necessarily mean you had anything to do with it. But then again, sometimes you did. On a single-game standpoint I tend to think it's mostly worthless, but over time I think that - in context with other info - it can be relevant and potentially somewhat illuminating.
Thanks lawmanfan.

Thanks lawmanfan.
Alright let’s see.

Scores tied 50-50. Lawman is on the bench. Other team gets fouled shooting a 3. It’s MJ’s (Maher, not the other one) 5th foul so he has to leave immediately and Lawman checks in for him for first time of the game.

Then, the other team makes all 3 ensuing free throws making it 53-50. Lawman just misses a buzzer beater on the other end as time expires.

What was Lawmans +/-? And why the hell wasn’t he in the game sooner?

Weak , Johnny fan . Very . I didn’t need to watch . The Stats and the Comments of other posters gave me enough insight into the Game for me to edit .
You think Zach or any of the other guys gets to put whatever they write into a Game summary without a Editor, who didn’t attend the game ?

And , for those who keep saying it’s only a Exhibition game , what would they have said , if we won ?
I read Dusty May’s post game Account , I didn’t see 1 reference to Exhibition game . Maybe I missed it ?

And , I still say , losing Wilcher and Brady wasn’t good .
Wilcher would have been a 3 year player with Pitino experience . And , giving a sense of continuity with Zuby . Familiarity .

But , it didn’t happen .
When Rick signed Wilcher he said that he had NBA talent. Although his two years were somewhat disappointing, he showed "flashes" where he looked that good. Consistency and maturity were sometimes lacking. I think he had the potential to play significant minutes (maybe starter?) this season. He also seemed like a great kid and was always encouraging the team, when he was on the bench.

Too early to give up on the current guards but Wilcher as the starting PG may have been the better choice,

White Chocolate would never foul a 3. He'd be worried about getting killed on this site by redfans :)

Speaking of. Seems like Texas only had a closed door scrimmage and no exhibition?

I was one of Wilcher's biggest (and therefore most disappointed) fans when he was here. He would have had to take a quantum leap in his ballhandling to play the point without giving Coach and this board an aneurysm.

I may be wrong but let me apply my new found knowledge. I'd say Lawman's +/- is zero because he wasn't in the game when the other team's shooter got fouled and he missed his buzzer beater.
