Exhibit A - The ACC's buyer's remorse

If Syracuse Football so "irrelevant", why did you start a thread(linked below, it hit 3 pages) about our game with Northwestern?(again, there is no football relation between the schools) From the thread below you wrote this: "nice to see these traitors lose opener in dome"...so you were watching, which shows "relevance", no?

Edit: You also not only know our coaches name but made up a cute little insulting nickname for him("Doug Moron") and have a distinct opinion on our jersey colors! Further examples of relevance!

You have a great basketball team. Your football team is atrocious. Why can't you admit that? I bet Memphis would whoop Cuse in football.

St. John's fans making fun of Syracuse's attendance. I think I've seen everything now.

Everyone makes fun of st.j's bad attendence at garden but you cant do that to ny's college team that cant sell
out their biggest game in yrs! fact is Orange have NO Juice

When Cuse fans talk about our lack of attendance compared to theirs, why does no one ever bring up the sheer numbers? Cuse has like 30,000 people aka DOUBLE St. John's and that's all campuses combined. Right off the bat of course they will outnumber us 2:1 even if everyone packs the venue. The other part is the alumni base. Cuse has a MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger alumni base obviously because they have double our enrollment. If St. John's was a 30k student school I guarantee you would see the garden a lot more full.

Maybe no one ever talks about the "sheer numbers" because there isn't any advantage? How many kids do you think go to Syracuse? "Double the enrollment"? "MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger" Where do you guys get this stuff?

Syracuse: 19,084 total students

St, John's: 20,096 students

I don't think I ever said our football team was good? We've largely been bad in football for the last decade plus. Team this year is not atrocious, hung with #2 team in country for most of the game but we're certainly not great and 6-7 wins would be a nice season. Haven't seen Memphis play, cannot comment on that.

And Syracuse does???? LOL!
We just love to hate Syracuse. It is what we do. Wink!

But why do you guys hate Cuse so much? (Aside from a-holes like me) Is it because we left the BE? NY's College Team nonsense? All of the above? I feel like Cuse fans genuinely like SJU, were happy when you guys hired Lavin and in a general sense, appreciate the history of the rivalry. Seems to be a huge disconnect.

I feel like if ACC added SJU as a hoops only, Cuse fans would be happy for the most part.

Hey Lemmy the only relevance is your school are traitors to the BigEast
I will always root against them for the betrayal

Not really sure why we are having this discussion.
When the BE started SU and SJU had tremendous rivalries.
Their lousy coach recruited very well and somehow became a better coach.
Our very good coach retired and was replaced by a succession of poor hires over a period of 18 years.
The success at SU continued while we had a handful of decent seasons and one very good year.
We became irrelevant while SU soared.
Those are the facts and I am not sure what is to be gained by having this discussion.
We are jealous.
Lets continue the progress we are making under coach Lavin which starts with recruiting and life will be better.

no jealousy...just anger that a few college presidents forgot their teams were in the best basketball conference in the country...so they destroyed it in pursuit of the almighty buck.

Let's see, we are talking about the Cuse (so called or named by them as New York's College team) drawing 30K people for a football game in New Jersey. College Football is not a big time spectator sport in NY so I am not surprised. That is about what Cuse drew in the Pinestrip bowl and Yankee Stadium two years ago.

Disclaimer: I actually was thinking about getting tickets as I happen to be a Big-time College Football Fan and the Trojans have been one of my favorite Teams along with their Marching Band since Vince Evans was the QB. Unforturnately, a couple of events unfolded which enabled me to attend.

And yes, as a college football and basketball fan, I think what is happening all in the name of football is deplorable.

Obviously not a Cuse football fan but actually thought they had a chance to improve in near future as played even with a decent Big 10 program in NW and played decent vs SC and because their recruiting has picked up. However I think move to ACC may actually hurt them in FT and recruiting much as it seems to have hurt Boston College. RTR

I think it's b/c of a-holes like you, just kidding, I am not saying you are an A-hole, those are your words, but there is a sense amongst many Big East fans that Syracuse & UConn fans are without question the most arrogant, rude & obnoxious fans in the entire country. I know that they also happen to be the most successful programs the last 10 - 20 years, maybe with Pitt in the mix. And I know that with winning comes the "love them or hate them" persona (i.e. Notre Dame & Miami football back in the day & the Yankees today), but I've been to Big East games at the Garden, The Rock, The Dome, Gampel, Providence, even NCAA Tournament neutral sites & I have to say that Cuse & UConn fans are top dogs in the arrogant dept. Does St. John's have rude & arrogant fans...of course we do. But for some reason Cuse & UConn seem to always have greater numbers. Anyway, that's my 2 cents, no hard feelings.

I've experienced Uconn fans both at MSG and in Hartford. They don't come anywhere close to being as arrogant and obnoxious as Cuse fans. It carries over to the players. I still can't forget Jonny Flynn's behavior during one the butt whoopings that was being put on us toward the end of the Norm regime. It was uncalled for.

+1

Among my vivid memories of the BE Championship game in 86 (won by St. John's on a baseline jumper by Ron Rowan and Walter Berry's block at the end of Pearl Washington's mad dash) was being at Runyons and talking to a couple of Nova fans who were extremely happy that we beat "the heathen snowman from the north."

The most ironic thing is that a St. John's man had more to do with the success of modern Syracuse athletics than anyone at Syracuse.

It was Gov. Hugh Carey who secured the taxpayer funding for the Carrier Dome to be built - a move that he hoped would get him some more upstate votes for his reelection bid.

I was at the USC-SU game and the "We Are New York's College Team" sign was everywhere.

Aside from the obvious disconnect to proclaiming this in New Jersey fellow SC fans were talking about how our numbers were comparable to theirs and the empty stands raised questions about what kind of support New York offers for "their" team.

where do you republicans come up with these bird droppings? carey beat malcolm wilson by almost a million votes and perry duryea by well more than a million. that was his reward for coming into the job during new york's worst economic crisis. he built the javits center, battery park city, and the south street seaport along with the carrier dome. if carey's wife didn't die, he would have run for president and he would have made a great one!
