Chaminade 1980 grad, Pace 1984; remember the 1973 team...the worst of times in late 1970s...building in the 1980s to the World Series...went to Game 2 1986 Gooden v Clemens...

Strawberry was a pretty complex guy back then; breaking wife's nose night before Houston playoff game in Houston...smoking weed on back of minor league bus...he and his brother physically confronting abusive father...getting laid between innings of games...met him in 1988 after the Dodger series, nice as can be, signed an autograph I still have today.

Foster was too sensitive to play in New York, and the "fans" ate him up...a lot of racism in 1980s Queens, and Foster heard all of it...didn't help himself by not living up to the contract and being aloof, but he did hear a lot of racism standing by himself in the outfield. Strawberry too.

Mitchell was great...the for real gangbanger life...video clip of the Mets, and specifically first base coach Bill Robinson, getting into fight with the Pirates...narrator describes how Robinson was a father figure to Mitchell as the Pirates pile on Robinson...Mitchell comes flying in and has one guy in a headlock and won't let go, Ralph Kiner says; "Kevin Mitchell, that's one guy you don't want to be messing around with"

As much a documentary of 1980s New York as it was about the Mets, a lot of flashbacks and great memories...highly recommend
