Engineering major

I read sometime in the last few weeks that the city was selling land and granting tax credits to either Cornell or Stanford to open up an engineering school on Roosevelt Island. It was an open bidding to all Universities who were interested, but I think the Times had an article saying those two schools had the best proposals and were the finalists. They indicated Stanford had the inside edge because they proposed a joint undergrad program with CUNY.

SJU may not have the academic credentials of those two; but certainly has the advantage in terms of an alumni base in the NYC area, and a central campus that would still be accessible from the east river - rather than hours upstate or on the other side of the country.
