Elite 8 Call Tonight

I didn’t realize what an impact Erick Barkley had on that team emotionally and behind the scenes

How was Postell......what is he up to these days?
He wasn't on the call. What I recall from the Elite 8 game was that Artest played the first half like he was in a trance - airballs, etc. Totally not himself.
You recall correctly. It's not that he was just "off", it felt like he mentally didn't come to play that day.
Either the enormity of the moment got to him, or he was on some meds or substance, or something going on in his head and maybe body. I wouldn't speculate beyond that because he may just have been our 2nd or third best all time player. He's certainly way up there. I really enjoyed his comments during the elite 8 call. Seems like a really good guy
I'm not judging him(I know you're not either), especially considering what we've learned about his struggles over the years, but I felt it even back then that there was something more going on with him then him just having an "off day".

After all these Years , I still think Barkley got fouled by Scoonie Penn of Ohio State in that Elite 8 Game on the final play . That Big Kid , Johnson on the Buckeyes killed us all game too . Jim O’Brien was the Ohio State Coach after leaving BC . He took Penn with him . After that , I recall O’Brien was fired and never Coached again . He violated some NCAA rule on paying a Recruit .

Barkley alluded to a possible bump but blamed himself for losing the ball.

Grant played with Johnson overseas as according to him he would eat him up. He said he kept thinking “I can’t believe we lost to a scrub like you”

When Tyrone Grant spoke about his programs, he got serious which was pretty cool. Great work.

Very likeable group. Metta was great.

Great webex. Recruits should see it.
Yes it was. Some good stories about a team that was mentally tough and had a chip on their shoulders. Fought like brothers was a theme as was the feeling if Tyrone doesn't get hurt, they win it all, a believe many on here had back then including me.
But Grant came back and the team was at full strength during the tournament.
The injury hadn't healed and became infected and he was a shell of himself. A healthy Grant and I like our chances as this team was rolling.
Oh wow, I didn’t realize that. I do remember him not being the same player when he came back. As I recall, the team actually played well in his absence which was a surprise.

I remember going to msg that year for what I think was the Preseason NIT. We lost two excruciating games to Stanford and Purdue, each of which we had big leads. The team persevered and was better for it. I loved the way that team shared the rock.

Interesting what memories stick with whom. I always remember that as the dance where if Ty had two hands healthy they would have figured out a way to dominate that game, 100 blocks by Ken Fucking Johnson or not.
