Early Team Evaluations

Everything you wrote makes a great deal of sense.
we will be a good team.

yes and - besides being a good team -

we are exciting, athletic, evolving and a place to be at, relevant etc. -

what more could we desire?

all the best

I can't wait for the season to start. As a season ticket holder it will be fun going to games watching our team develop.
Keep that in mind, as Parcells always said "Let's not put them in the Hall of Fame yet."
As excited as I am we all need to realize that's why they play the games.
Go Red Storm!

All of the newcomers should contribute this season if given the opportunity with the exception of Belamou who alongside hooper will benefit from a year of practicing with our great staff and dep and talented team. It should be a fun and exciting season. If Jakaar can step into 90percent of Mo's shoes and Orlando and CO each provide 15 solid minutes at the 4and5 positions we will be a good team.

A very good team imo!

Harrrison for POY.... Sampson/Sanchez split ROY honors.

4th place finish in BE followed by a RUN at the final 4!!!

To see a Sliva post with zero misspellings. :p

As usual I am a bit more cautious. There are a lot of new pieces to fit in here. It will be a plus to have some returning players with experience, but it seems very possible that by the end of December there may be only one starter who played last year (Harrison). Branch will probably be the starting PG as soon as he's eligible, Sampson replaces Harkless, either Obepka or Sanchez starts over Gift, and if both of them start then you have four new starters.

Also, we still don't know who will be coaching them. Dunlap did the job officially last year, and apparently unofficially the year before. So far, there's no replacement for that. While this group has talent, it is not at the level of (for instance) Kentucky, where the talent level is so off the charts that coaching is almost irrelevant. Somebody is going to have to do some work here not only managing all of the minutes and roles but also designing, teaching, installing and game-managing.

I think we are going to take some non-conference losses unless (1) D'Angelo takes his game to yet another level; or (2) a couple of the newcomers turn out to be extra-special (which wouldn't surprise me, especially with Sampson). My best guess is that we will be fighting for an NCAA spot to the end of the season, and will either make it or miss it by a game or so.

Either way it should be a fun year and it's always good to watch talented players develop over the course of their college careers. I am especially looking forward to watching Sir'Dom and Amir add some pieces to their games (and don't sleep on my guy Phil Greene).

Mr. Law, I don't get the part about not knowing who will be coaching them. That would be Coach Lavin. Also year prior to last Dunlap was not the unofficial coach. He was an asst coach, and Steve Lavin was for sure the head coach. I can't figure where your going with that stuff about who's the coach. It's Steve Lavin.

The fact remains we will have substitutions to ease our pressing and athletic play. Just think about it - the guys will finally get a breather.
