Doug Gottlieb Classless

I don't know if anyone else heard the 20 second snippet by Doug Gottlieb after the Francessa show ended. He basically made the case that Syracuse should be out based on the "St. John's Rule". Stating that any team that lost to St. John's "the worst team" in College Basketball with Rutgers who they beat should not be in the Tournament.

Now I am not going to argue with that feeling that we have a terrible team but does he really need to pile on a team that was eliminated months ago and never really had a chance from the start? Way for Gottlieb to get a couple of cheap yucks at the expense of an overmatched group of 20 year olds. Stay classy Doug.

We are the definition of a bad loss and I am ecstatic we will knock Cuse out of Tourney. This is a non story, not sure what everyone is mad at?

Exactly, had any other team had a season like we did and Cuse loses to them, they'd be the brunt of the joke. Face it, we sucked this year, and what he said is accurate. And it very well may be the fact that since we beat Cuse they're out of the tournament.

On a related note, Gottlieb is reportedly in the running to be named the Okla St head coach.
Classifying a loss to SJ as a bad loss is fine...referring to it as the St. John's rule is over the top piling on...

I'm not a huge fan of Gottlieb either but in all fairness he did say some really nice things about Mullin and the future of the program earlier this season when he was working a St. John's game on CBSSN. I didn't see this particular clip, but I agree that the wording sounds a bit over the top. The sentiment isn't wrong though. I think the guy is doing his job but it stings to hear. If he had said it about another program I wouldn't give it a second thought.

On the bright side, we now get to be one of the "big surprises" next year for all these national reporters who don't pay attention to recruiting outside of Kentucky and Duke.
