Detroit Roll Call

I'm also rooting for UConn as a Big East brother. They legitimize our conference. By the way, even if MSU is playing terrible D, UConn's offense is lights out. I know it's just half a game so far, but UConn is nowhere near a bottom team. Way too much talent. You still think this is a team DePaul will finish above?

FWIW I can't answer that question since I'm still at work and not watching the game. Stats seem to indicate they're shooting has come back down to earth and they're getting pounded on the boards. Again, bad bigs means bad results in the Big East. We'll see how it plays out during the season.

Michigan state started playing a paltry amount of D and now Uconn only up by 7. They might be in trouble for second half if Izzo makes any real adjustments.

Regardless, this is #14 MSU. They were supposed to have no trouble at all if they are worse than DePaul. Even if they lose, you can't deny UConn has a ton of talent...way more than DePaul.

I think you'll be surprised how much better DePaul is this year. Michigan state had a bad half but seems to be picking it up and getting better. Again, you seem to have a hard time envisioning shift of power amongst teams. Uconn doesn't have a "ton of talent". I'm not sure what you see. Their guards are quite good, but we know that already and frontcourt only visible because of first half open shots.

Boatright hurt pretty bad it appears.

Edit: Nevermind looks like a bad sprain.

Bad sprains can be much worse than broken bones sometimes. Hopefully not too bad.

Not sure what thread this was in so sorry in advance, but whoever said UConn would be worse than DePaul better tune in to the Mich St. game because they are dominating them. They don't look worse than DePaul...they look like they could be a top 7 BE team.

I'm watching it right now. Uconn banging their shots.

I might hate them but I want them to win

I feel the same way. I hate them but want them to continue to own the Big 10 and win for the Big East. It helps our conference RPI a ton.
yep. Boatright has looked pretty good. There big guys havent wowed me though

You guys find it easier to root for UCONN now that Calhoun isn't there?
10x easier for me, at least.

Ollie seems like a decent guy.
After the wiggins thing I hated them on almost a Duke level. When Lavin got hired my anger went away.

I still take great joy in beating them but against any other non big east team I'll pretty much root for them unless it's an ncaa tourney cinderella team

Obviously Boatwright and Napier are good. How is Daniels playing, 3 boards would indicate he's not much more agressive than he was last year. Without him as a force on the inside they're done this year. Joe, suggest you also look at Omar's stat line as well as Rico Gathers stat line in the Baylor game to help you temper your expectations of frosh in general. They'll have good games and bad games but the best thing about freshmen is . . .

Daniels looks blehhh. I thought he was going to be a monster recruit and he looks like he did last year

He had a few nice buckets real early, but not much since.
I agree, thought he'd be real good - hasn't panned out for them yet.

Then UConn's in trouble. Olander, Wolff and Giffey are no more than meh. Can't win in the BE when all your frontcourt is blehhh and meh.

Chris Mullin will be in the house (along with former Johnnies coach Fran Fraschilla, who's working a double dip that day).

Per ESPN Media Zone:

Two Games and a Home Sweet Home Between
Analyst Fran Fraschilla will work two games and take a trip “home” to meet a friend between games as part of the Tip-Off Marathon on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Fraschilla, a native of Brooklyn, will begin his day working the Stony Brook at Rider telecast at 6 a.m. on ESPN. At the conclusion of the game, he will make his way to a basketball park in Brooklyn where he played pickup basketball. While there, he will meet up with St. John’s great Chris Mullin who often joined Fraschilla in the games. The two will then depart for Queens to call the Detroit at St. John’s game at 2 p.m. on ESPN. ESPN will cover their trek throughout the 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon games.

i am going.. Is it possible to have a charity auction for a seat next to joe3 where he is your analyst for the game? Priceless..

It would cost you a lot :D

So, if Joe couldn't mention DePaul and Marillac couldn't talk about his prediction that the Johnnies would only win 13 games last year, would they have anything to say?

Just kidding guys. You make things interesting.

I took a ferry, two busses and a subway to go to the first frickin exhibition game (I live in NJ and Path was not running) so I certainly won't let something as silly as work keep me away from the first game of the year

I am Spartacus. I mean I'll be there. And as for the post stating the best thing about freshman is..... we know you were saying they become sophomores but that is an old Al McGuire saying that doesn't really hold anymore because now freshman become pros.
