Good catch, Syracuse game when DJ got hurt was in the quarters.Haven’t made BE semis in over 20 years so didn’t make with Norm’s players.
That makes only four head coaches in SJU history to make BET semis:
Looie
Mahoney
Fran
Jarvis

when we lose to nova because Cam Whitmore drops 30 whos gonna be the poster to be like "WELL PORTLAND beat this team why can't we!!!"I'm just glad that coach is off the hot seat for a while...Maybe until the Nova game
Pretty sure we all know the answer.when we lose to nova because Cam Whitmore drops 30 whos gonna be the poster to be like "WELL PORTLAND beat this team why can't we!!!"
Need to make Big East Tournament semifinals to solidify spot.
Tough ask, since the last time we did was with Norm’s players.
At the game it never went on the board for Storr. My wife mentioned it to me. When I looked Stanley had a field goal (and yes SJU score overall was correct as I have some ADHD about watching that) and I certainly don’t remember him scoring. I have game taped and will check for kicks. Was it Stanley? You may be right I only remember him making 1 free throw.
Not surprising. I always focus on not winning a NCAA tournament game in 22 years.Haven’t made BE semis in over 20 years so didn’t make with Norm’s players.
I noticed a 6'6 guy on New Hampshire was top 10.Including last night's game against DePaul, Soriano leads all D1 Men's basketball in total rebounds with 125. He's five ahead of Zach Edey from Purdue. He's third in average rebounds per game with 12.5, behind Zach Edey with 13.3 and Oscar Tshiebwe at Kentucky with 13.5.
Just about every year some team steps up in the Conference and completely exceeds their expected win total. Last year, although no one predicted it, the Providence Friars wound up 14-3 in Conference. Personally I am less focused on us being 11-9 and squeaking in or not squeaking in to the dance than I am in winning and winning and winning some more until the question isn't whether we are in or not, but how high we will be seeded. At this point this team could still wind up anywhere from second to tenth place in the conference without it being a complete shocker. It is all in front of us, well within our control and completely unknown. Its been a longtime since we have had a truly magical season. Hopefully, this year will be the one. Up until now I have been enjoying the CMA teams, but I have to say I have less of a sense of how this season will play out than in most years. That said, I will root like hell and hope for some real true March Madness from our guys!Obviously too early to make proclamations about exactly what gets SJU in but that’s part of the fun for me. I agree that 11 conference wins gets us in & 10 is bubbly.
I’m going to assume that we go 4-0 against Georgetown & DePaul and 0-4 against UConn & Creighton (I don’t think this “slide” continues for Creighton. Too much talent) if we’re dropping games to those bottom 2 this conversation is pointless because we probably should have our sights set on the NIT. If they can steal a win or two against the top dogs then we’re probably going to be talking about seeding rather than if we’re in or not.
If those 8 games do end up chalk (maybe not!) then it’s how we do in that middle tier. Have to at least split with everyone else and sweep one of them. That’s 11. I think Butler & Marquette home games will have massive tournament implications for us even though relatively early in schedule (1/3 & 1/10) Two teams that look better than projected and have home courts that are really difficult road environments. Don’t want to drop our Carnesecca games to them and find ourselves in must win games at Hinkle & Fiserv later in the season.
There are enough skilled players for the first time in years to truly have great winning potential. At 9-1, with 1/3 of the season gone, I’d call the first third successful even with all the warts.Mathis is much better, Curbelo is a star, except for his turnovers , but he creates so much more opportunities to score than we’ve had in years. Soriano, double double machine , is a huge upgrade. Jones, a skilled and relentless player, can score all over, but just needs some more focus to increase his scoring . Posh os still great but his role has changed so his results are a bit more subtle. Sprinkle in Pinzons’ improvement as well as Stanley and Storr and Wusu and it just works better. Of course CMA has to put all the pieces together correctly but I’d bet he does. I think we can potentially be 3rd best big east team and maybe even upset a Creighton once. UCONN seems very dominant and won’t lose much to ananyone.Just about every year some team steps up in the Conference and completely exceeds their expected win total. St. John's official box score that they sent out has Storr with 2 pts. WeirdGuess we need another thread.
Who do we think got credit for Storr’s 2 points? Maybe they gave his rebounds to someone else too
