Guess we need another thread.

Who do we think got credit for Storr’s 2 points? Maybe they gave his rebounds to someone else too 😬

Interesting the Iowa St game thread was left open for 2 days but the DePaul one shut down immediately

Do the mods just want us to bitch after losses but not celebrate wins??

This came off as me being mad I’m just kinda joking. Keep doing your thing mods we appreciate you

Wow, good catch, they didn't give him credit for that mid range shot he made. I've never seen that before. I wonder did the Johnnies just not get credit for those 2 points at all.

idk why Boo Harvey said we'd need more than 11 big east wins to dance. (he said it before the depaul thread got locked so i didnt get to respond)

I feel like 11 wins is auto-dance

10 is bubbly

9 or less see ya next season
Need to make Big East Tournament semifinals to solidify spot.
Tough ask, since the last time we did was with Norm’s players.

should've made it last year if we could have gotten a stop at the end of the nova game. or if Julian Champagnie did not airball his last shot in an SJU uniform

Stil haunts me

We are not in a bubble. It will depend on the last Big East OOC games. It will depend on how other teams around the country fare. It will depend on how Nebraska, Temple and Syracuse do over the next couple of months. It'll depend on where our wins come from. I can tell you now that if we win 11, but 8 of the 11 are against the lowest 4 or 5 Big East teams and the rest are at home then get ready for the NIT. We will need to beat UConn or win @Creighton, Xavier or Marquette. It's hard to imagine getting a bid if we show up on Selection Sunday with no Q1 wins. We'd need to pile up at least 7 or 8 Q2 wins and I'm not sure where they come from if you eliminate all the Q1 games.

Since the realignment of the Big East, teams who win 11 (or more) conference games make the NCAA tournament 100% of the time.

would be pretty significant if we won 11 and missed

Very true. It's not a set number of wins and losses. It's a lot of variables. Most important thing is getting quality wins against other teams projected in the field, that's the best way to strengthen your resume. Need the other teams in the Big East to finish up their last 2-3 non-conference games strong. Because as of right now, there's really only 4 other teams in the conference projected in the field. Out of 20 games, you want more than just 8 to be against quality opponents. If Big East is a 6-7 team bid league, then it's a pretty safe bet that 10 or 11 wins get you in, 4-5 bid league, not so much.

That is true, but right now this is probably the weakest the Big East has been in a long time. CMA actually missed the tournament his 3rd year in Arkansas when he had 21 wins (10 in conference) because the SEC was so weak that year, only sent 3 teams to the tournament, so very little opportunities to get quality wins.

But I do agree, 11 conference wins, even if the Big East is only a 4 bid league this year should be enough, but I wouldn't feel comfortable about it, unless there's at least 3-4 wins out of the combination of UConn, Creighton, Xavier, and Marquette.

I just feel like at 11 conference wins you are establishing yourself as one of the top teams in a good conference (yes, weaker this year, but still competitive). And I just feel like we would get in regardless of anything else.

But I also thought 10-6 would be enough to get the 2015 jets into the playoffs and was wrong there so who knows. (maybe thats why I have it internalized that an 11th win would get it done haha)

Right now I think UConn, Creighton, Marq, Butler, and Xavier, are all teams that should compete for a tournament spot. Those all should be quality wins. So, I lean towards you being right that 11 should be enough no matter what, that's half your non-conference schedule against tournament teams. But, it would be nice it Villanova and Seton Hall finish up non-conference strong and get back in the mix, if you can get over half your conference games to be against tournament quality opponents it's just so much easier to get in and not be sweating on selection Sunday.

For most of that time there were 18 games not 20 so your 11 wins now come with two more loses.

Haven’t made BE semis in over 20 years so didn’t make with Norm’s players.
