Damion Lee, G

I don't necessarily disagree, but go ahead and try to name the power forward and Center on the RUN TMC teams. It is always good to have bigs but would not shock me if Mullin recruited more shooters than bigs.

Rod Higgins

Maybe Victor Alexander?

I remember they were for the most part 6'9"-ish and not super bulky and didn't do much of anything at all.

I'm sure Alton Lister was one of 'em. I watched several Golden State playoff games during that time.

I'm probably the biggest fan of Nellie Ball that you will ever see.

However, Nelson's one drawback was his complete rejection of ever having a quality big man. This is the guy who took over the Knicks, and immediately tried to trade a still-in-his prime Patrick Ewing. It's hard to win in college without at least one quality big. In the pros? Impossible.

Hopefully, Mullin realizes this one mistake. Other then that, I'm all for playing Nellie Ball.

Mullin lost enough times to Patrick in college and teams with centers in the pros to not repeat that mistake.

In the Pros I think Wennington is probably 20 games over 500 against Patrick. Of Course there were about 23 other reasons for that.

Wennington was a pretty good center. The problem was Ewing was a great Center.

@NYPost_Brazille: St. John's has expressed interest in Drexel transfer Damion Lee and there is mutual interest, per source. #sjubb

Huge. It'll be nice to have a big wing that can shoot from deep again. I suspect we will be seeing more traditional lineups with Lavin--no three guard looks or bigs playing SF.

You do realize he had the most success in his career playing for Don Nelson right.
Lavin went three guards because 3 of his best 5 players happened to be guards. If Mullin finds himself in same situation he will do same.
BTW I would have liked to see Mullin coach last years team as that would have been right up his ally.

Monday, I was listening to the guys after the michael kay show on espnradio. They said that he'll probably play the Don Nelson style, up tempo, spread them out and shoot lots of threes.
Those were fun teams to watch.

Mullin and SJU were 4 - 8 vs Ewing and Georgetown.

Better then a lot of teams did against Georgetown in that 4-year time frame, if you think about. I know we won down there Mullin's Junior and Senior years.

Back to the topic...Damion Lee is a huge recruit for us. We need to win big early to keep the buzz and excitement going and to silence critics. Opposing coaches will knock Mullin's lack of coaching experience. A 20-win season out of the gate will end that, and make coaching just one more thing Mullin excels at.

This kid is one of the missing pieces to that 20-win puzzle.

Would he be worth having for one year if it cost us four years of Sampson?

Why would it cost us Sampson? You could guarantee both starting spots, Sampson at the two and Lee at the three. We have nothing returning 1-3 besides Balamou and possibly Jordan.

@EvanDaniels: Drexel graduate transfer Damion Lee has heard from "70 to 75" schools. Currently has 160 unread texts.

If mullin and Matt get it done that would be a crazy good start considering how much interest he has

Speaking of which...
Has anyone heard us mentioned with any point guards?
Any transfers available?

Yes

Yes to costing us Sampson or yes to him starting in our brand new back court? B)

You think Balamou can be useful with some "player development "?

G- Jordan
G- Sampson
F- Lee
F- Diallo
C- Obekpa

If we can land this kid & Diallo... we're going to the Big Dance!

God BLESS #20... Go Johnnies!!!!
That's a nice line up. Still a lot of ifs . But, looking less unrealistic than it was a week ago. More balanced than this years.
