Daily News -- SJU needs most of Moe vs. Rutgers

And lets not forget the fact that part of Rice's recruiting success last season had to do with the fact that because of our hiring Mo Hicks we could not get certain kids who then went to Rutgers.

The only Rutgers recruit with relation to Moe Hicks was Jack.

Fair enough but we would all be pleasd if we had Jack as opposed to Rutgers.
I am not really sure as to what your point is Gonzalo.

You has used the plural (certain kids). There was only one kid.

Don't get mr wrong bobre. I like Rice too, thought he was a good hire for Rutgers, and would have been okay if we hired him, though not as happy as I am with Lavs. Just think that the resumes are not comparable

You have two local schools, playing in the same, high profile league. Their coaches were hired at the same time.

That's a natural scenario for debating the abilities of Lavin -vs- Rice. Not Mantle, Snider and Mays but you get the picture.

That below is Just a reminder of what took place about a year ago.

Rice came in, immediately hired a really good recruiting assistant coach and Rutgers' recruiting took off with a flurry of new recruits It made Steve look like he was asleep on the job. Many on this board were getting very agitated.

After the dust settled Steve had come through for us with great recruits, a core of whom will give our school a significant future in college basketball. Rice did a good job of recruiting but nothing close to Steve.

A similar picture is currently playing with Steve off to a slow start and board members feeling that we are in dire straits with regard to 2012 recruits.

I say, we all know Steve and how strong he is as a recruiter. We also should know, that we don't know the names of many players who are on his recruiting plate.

Keep the faith and in the words of one of our loyal and unwavering moderators, " In STEVE we trust."
