Curbelo (Possibly) a Johnny

from reading Illini fan board posts, it seems to me that (a) his game is suited to SJU's style of play, (b) if he gets back to his freshman year form (pre- concussion/Covid in year 2), we may have a great talent on our hands, and (c) he will benefit from a fresh start here. Some haters (they exist everywhere) think he does not belong at a mid-major.

Yep, I don't think I quite remember a player who had such a stark difference from one year to the next like he did. I think the concussion issues played a big role in his poor season. He was on the preseason All-American radar back in the fall so there's no doubt he can be a game changer.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that Curbelo is going to be the reason Anderson is either still the coach or isn't the coach here at this time next year. He could have that much of an impact in either direction. Hopefully he regains his freshman form.
 
Again if he is healthy and right and they can make it work between him and Posh (there is obvious overlap in terms of how they play) it is a really good pick up.

They still need to get a proven bucket getter in the mold of Champagnie. A real scorer for them to make a jump next year.

But again if Belo is right he can ball.
 
Will take our guard play to the next level and make our improving bigs look even better.

He has been reaching out since his season ended. Talented, talented player. Will thrive in our style of play.

Posh will benefit from not having to handle the ball too much. I happen to think that Posh is more of a slasher, and that he does not need the ball as much as people think.
Posh gets offensive stick backs, pesky steals, and is good at slipping to the basket undetected.

This is going to pay off big time if he has pulled the trigger on us.
 
I mean…the thought of Posh, Pinzon and Curbelo rotating the 2 guard spots is just…..let’s go! Just need a guy in the portal who can shoot like Jimmy Chitwood and we’re good. Add a big, damn.

Solid reconnaissance .... some people have their vices... playing with the emotions of a fragile fanbase could be one of them lol
