U@CNG_Staszewski: Just saw Steve Lavin at Christ the King. St. John's is in the building. #sjubb
Why wouldn't he be expected to be there?
It is his job to recruit talent.
Nobody said anything to that effect. Thanks for inane post and clarication of his duties. On Monday or Tuesday when Sampson makes oral commitment, can I count on you to say something positive or will you brilliantly point out we still have a long way to go? Stating the obvious is easy. I'm a critic of SL, but am curious. What would you have said if he wasn't there? Damned if you do, etc.
Btw, when confronted you never seem to respond.

Sampson would be an excellent acquisition and Lavin should then be commended for that recruitment. That said, in light of our overall situation, you'll have to excuse the tempored enthusiasm. We all know it's going to take much more than one recruit. This guy made a mess......no big parties for getting one kid.
Just returned from CTK. Lavin showed up during the 2nd quarter of the second game between LILU and Thomas Jefferson. I would not have recognized him with his cap and sunglasses on had he not stood right next to me. He went and sat midway up in the bleachers with some white haired guy with Buddy Holly glasses. Adonis showed up for the CTK-Cordozo game. At halftime of the CTK-Cordoza Lavin came down to the floor, chatted with Adonis, and left the building. By contrast, Tiny arrived before the first game, sat center court at one of the many court-side tables that CTK had set up for scouts/coaches, and held court(no punt intended)all day. Some other observations from today:
In the first game, Lincoln dominated St. Rays from tip-off till final buzzer lead by their dynamic freshman back court of Paul Pearson and Tyler Bourne. Bourne goes about 5'6"(he's listed as 5''8") and 120 soaking wet, but what a hell of a player. Paul Pearson could be the next great PG out of NYC. Watching him in warm-ups you could see the kid was the real deal. Poised and strong beyond his years. He controlled the game. Sidney Wilson, while he didn't have a great game, looks like he's going to be special. Reminds me a lot of Malik Sealy in his Tolentine years. Listed as 6'6", he actually seems taller. Isiah Washington is a good one too. Unfortunately both were bottled up by Lincoln's D. Would have been nice if Lavin had showed up earlier to watch them.
In the second game Lutheran, lead by Junior Devonte Green, held off Thomas Jefferson. Sure as hell wish we were on Green. I was not at all impressed with Shamorie Ponds. He's a 6' shooting guard who's did not impress me with his shooting ability. I realize its only one game., but I wasn't at all impressed.
In the final game, CTK led by their back court of Alvarado and Rivers, pulled away from Cardozo and won by double digits(I left with 2 minutes left and CTK up 15). Alkins didn't have a great game and had to sit in the third quarter with 4 fouls. Salnave looks like the real deal, although he was bottled up by Ty Cohen for most of the game and then committed 3 quick fouls in the third quarter and he too had to sit with 4 at that point. Whoever made a Dwight Hardy comparison was spot on. He's probably a little bigger and stronger though.
All in all it was a fun day of hoops.

So the guy Lavin is on had the worst day of the bunch?
@CNG_Staszewski: Just saw Steve Lavin at Christ the King. St. John's is in the building. #sjubb
Nice to hear. But I'm sure some posters are more interested in what he is wearing.
Al Sharpton sweatsuit with blazer of course
Since the good Rev lost all that weight, I don't think he wears sweatsuits anymore. All I've seen him in is some nice, expensive looking, Italian suits.
But as far as I'm concerned, Lavin could go George Costanza on us and wear velvet sweatsuits. As long as he wins! :cheer:

Did I read that right? The good rev. Excuse me while I vomit.

Relax, Jack. No need to vomit. I meant that as dripping sarcasm. I probably should have put good in quotes. Sorry for the confusion.
