Creighton (MSG), Sun., Feb. 16, 3p, FS-1

Glover does not seem ready to me. I think the coaching staff feel the same way. he played 2 min with 2 TOs and 1 Foul against Nova, He played 1 min against Uconn & Marquette. He looks shaky when he is in there. Last game he had decent minutes was against Gtown in a blowout. It's a tricky spot because he needs game experience but these games are mostly very tight. 3 or 4 wasted possessions could mean winning or losing by 2.
IIRC he had those turnovers bringing the ball up, where he put himself in bad positions that were vulnerable to being turned over. Which he did. He cant be the primary ir secondary ball handler.

In simplest terms, Glover has been a disappointment this season. A lot of us, me included, assumed he would modestly help this season. To his credit, my enemy LMF noted early his D was extremely lacking and recent eye tests shows deficient shooting as well.

Could he make a play or two in emergency relief? Of course, but best plan for him would imo be to break his tail in practice, pay attention to detail there and return next season. His off season commitment to work hard and follow the staff’s development plan also seems crucial.

Defensively he is still a liability. Opponents immediately attack him. And he can’t bring ball up under pressure. He was not a pg on his AAU or high school teams. If he had the talent to be a pg he would have played that position. Now he is being asked to be a pg on much higher level. Recipe for disaster.

A late season awesome contest between two great coaches, teams w different styles and strengths & at packed MSG is as much as you can ask for. Pitino & team know the importance of this one. I expect a gritty battle where our resilience and toughness will get us across the finish line despite missing a warrior in Smith. Pitino in two years has pushed a lot of buttons correctly, no reason to assume otherwise Sunday.

I think the problem for him has been ball handling and shot selection. Right now he is better suited to set up on wing and shoot wide open 3s when he has time/space (tendency to shoot even when close outs are quick) and drive (he has good size). He’ll get there with experience. Definitely a keeper.

Thanks Paultz…I needed that :)

Very excited to see Lefty will get some run. Hope he looks good. We need some semblance of a bench. I’ve been hoping he and Glover can get some minutes but it’s just tough when we’re not (usually) blowing teams out and every game seems to matter.

Obviously not a “must win” but I want this one pretty bad. It feels like an indicator of not whether the team is good but more HOW good this team is. Are they “good” or are they “special” (like 1985 or 1999 teams?) of course not saying that winning or losing this one game guarantees anything. Only saying it feels like another indicator of what tier of “good” this team will end up being when it’s all said & done.

From the limited minutes Ive seen from Lefty, Ive seen a kid whos not overwhelmed out there. He seems comfortable and plays within the offense. He doesnt panic and the moment is not too big for him. And he csn shoot.

I think he will play well tomorrow and help this ball club.

He will then be a fixture in the rotation for the rest of the season.
