Crazy Thoughts

was the last time we won at GTown 2003?

when we were down 16 second half and came back?...Hatten dropped 35 that day
We beat'em there with Ingram hitting 3's from the corner with that awful lefty shot from the hip. Might a been same day.

Not that this wouldn't be monumentally tough, but if this roller coaster squad manages two road wins at Xavier and G'Town, we follow that up with 3 homes games that would all appear winnable.

One game at a time rule must predominate, but Lavin's teams have had a knack for late season runs.

Like I said, crazy thoughts, but a nice way to start my work day.

Now that we've accomplished the first step of this crazy thought, might as well continue it. While losing at Georgetown doesn't destroy all hopes for the season, a win would be monumental. A win would for the moment gild the path to a tournament bid. Beat Georgetown, and a sweep of three home games would almost cement an NCAA bid. Win at Georgetown, and we could conceivably win 2 of the 3 straight home games and still be a strong contender.

Lose to Georgetown Tuesday, and we'll have the pressure of sweeping the 3 home games.

This is what good teams do. They seize an opportunity when it's in front of them. Sweeping two away games against good teams is a crazy thought. Crazier things have happened, and I'd love to see what happens to our home attendance if we do beat the Hoyas.
2011 we went 5-4 on road with wins at Cincy, Marq. and Nova. I forget the other 2. It was a great run that ended with a loss in NJ. So we finish 12-6 and win the BE tourny. A 3 seed? As long as your dreaming, why fool around.

That was the same game. That was a fun one to watch, as we mounted a comeback.

I had a couple friends--both fans of G'town--who was at my house that day watching it. One of 'em was hootin' and hollerin', and ready to trash talk once G'town won. You could clearly see both of 'em feeling uneasy once we kept getting closer and closer. Once, the game was over, I recall saying something similar to the one, who was itching to talk trash to me, to "enjoy the loss and go to work (as, he had to work that day)." All in good ribbing. LOL

Won our first two games of the conference season, both on the road. At WV with djay having a double double and at Prov with Paris hitting a 3 and taking a charge in the last minute. Miss those guys.

Team will go as far as Harrison carries them. He has become a great leader to go along with being a great player. A guy like that can make up for a multitude of defects. See Dwight Hardy and Marcus Hatten for a couple of other examples of players who succeeded without a coach (to paraphrase Baron Davis).

Bump.
Harrison goes 0-11. In related news, St John's gets blown out.

Gtown has has his # for his entire career--especially on the road. "Stop Harrison, beat St. John's" has been their approach for years.
Still works apparently.

I don't foresee too many more bad games for Harrison.
Three home games in a row now. Win those three...split the two road games (Marquette, Nova) to end the season and we are in regardless of what we do in the B.E.T..

These three home game are absolutely must wins. No excuses, if they want in the ncaa tournament, then they better protect their home court.
No ifs or but about it.

Lavin's record is 4-4 , well now 4-5 vs Gtown- so we own them at Msg under Lavin.

They beat us by 17 last year at home, and we beat them by 22 at MSG a few weeks later.
Home court advantage is a huge factor in conference play.

I saw that on the broadcast last night and it's absolutely not true.

year home away

2011 W61-58 L77-52
2012 L69-49 L71-61
2013 L67-51 L68-56
2014 W82-60 L77-60
2015 next week L79-57

Lavin is either 2-5 or 2-7 depending on how you treat 2012 when Dunlap filled in.

if we go 5-2 from here until BE tourney we are in! 4-3 with a win in tourney we are in. I think 21 wins is our number. Just my thoughts.

just saying....i had confidence. lol. Go Johnnies!!!!!!

Not a bad call on my part. Not so crazy a thought after all. Thanks to these kids and coaches for making this a very memorable season and well worth the price of admission for every single home game.
