Didn't anyone else hear the "F**k Dan Hurley" chants near the end of the game? I could hear it all the way in Vietnam. At first I thought it was a bit crude. Then I realized, it was more about A-holes calling our Garden "Storrs South". They were just putting the exclamation point on the sentence the team was delivering. "This is OUR COURT!"

And I'm sorry - No way this was a 60-40 crowd.
Near the end, before and during. Every chance they got when they weren’t chanting “Let’s Go Johnnies.”

heckling and jeering is definitely a part of the sports going experience, but I just find something particularly off putting about a chant like f*** Dan Hurley, or f*** anyone. I'm more into playful mocking

My favorite example of good heckling is in 2012 when the New York Rangers were in the playoffs. They played the Ottawa Senators in the first round, who had their best player in franchise history, Daniel Alfredsson. In fact, the Senator fans loved him so much, they would count down the 5 seconds going into the 11 minute mark of each period, because Alfredsson was number 11. Once the clock struck 11:00, they would break out this "Alfie! Alfie! Alfie!" chant in honor of their star.

Anyways, the rangers knocked them out, and then played the Washington Capitals next round. At MSG in this round, the rangers fans would count down the seconds to the 8 minute mark (Ovechkin's number) and then break out a "Ovie sucks! Ovie Sucks! Ovie sucks!" chant

To this day that is my favorite example of heckling ever. Taking one teams chant and turning it on the best player of the next team you play is just incredible stuff

Oh, so SJU fans are now the protectors of referees? How very noble and courageous of you!
My piece - that chant is classless and accomplishes nothing except making a fool of everyone who engages in it. And you attempting to justify it because of another persons actions is utter sophomoric nonsense.
And you really didn’t have to fall on your sword and admit you are classless, I have read your posts, it is clearly obvious.
Lmao, I bet you think I care what you think right?
Bwahahaha

Only God can judge me and you aren't God.

I didn't mind the Hurley one he brings it on himself. I didn't like the one I forget the exact words about Ricks son at the end of the game against New Mexico. It didn't last long but I didn't like it and I wouldn't like it against any other coach in the BE. If they would have done that to someone like McDermott it would have really bothered me

I thought the "Who's your daddy" chant was great, but especially because Richard Pitino completely got that it was also a reference of an all-time great chant of NYY fans to Pedro

Look profanity at a game is going to happen. The occasional curse is one thing but I was not a fan of the repeated chant.

Several years ago we were playing West Virginia at the Garden. I and my youngest (who was probably in 8th or 9th grade) were sitting in my old seats. Some harsh words were going back and forth between folks routing from St. John’s with some phrases that should not be heard at a game. I spoke up and pointed out there were a couple of minors in their presence and they needed to knock it off. They apologized and that was the end of it. f

I was at Shea for Yankees vs Mets with the hole family one year and the family in front of us had young kids like mine were. One Yankee fan got a little out of pocket and the Yankee fans he was with were all over him for it. He admittedly apologized for his profanity to both me and the guy in front of me. Apologized again at the end of the game. It was appreciated.

Agree, if you're gonna go there be at least be witty about it, not just crass. I curse like a sailor too but try and keep the company I'm with and environment I'm in in the back of my mind.

Keeping it semi on topic a former poster here who I was friends with aside from hating Uconn fans went Philly game agains the mets in Philly. He was going decked out in met gear ( I warned him not to ) he didn't even get to his seat yet and he got blasted in the head with a hot dog. Then he said " Mike that wasn't the worst part. It was loaded with Ketchup and it looked like I got shot ) lololol

Uconn fans though Jesus. I've only gone to maybe 5 games total in my life up there but I'm pretty respectful. Most of them are just flat out Aholes

Does he bring it upon himself with his actions? Yes. So I don't feel so bad.

If he doesn't like it then maybe he should better himself and just maybe it would stop.

Don't get me wrong, I don't "feel bad" for Hurley that he heard fans yelling that chant.

I am more just embarrassed that we did that. I was watching from home, when I heard us break it out, it didn't make me happy. I didn't know how I would feel about it until it started happening. It just felt... lame. It made me cringe. But that is just me and how I reacted

I haven't been to any games this season, but last season at MSG - I believe it was during the UConn game-- I remember some fans very loudly yelling "Let's Go Johnnies" during the singing of the anthem. So loud you could hear it over the singer. I don't know if that's happened again this year, but that to me is the epitome of classlessness and in my opinion, should be grounds for removal. Whether it's our fans or anyone else's who are doing it.

I agree 1000 Percent the National Anthem needs to be respected from beginning to end, without any shout outs , etc .

The recent situation at the 4 Nations Hockey Tournament was a poor showing of whoever decided booing a Nation’s Anthem was the thing to do.

Attempts to justify it , as a response to Political commentary , are feeble excuses .

Frankly it ‘s showing disrespect to a Country’s Citizens and cannot be justified . No matter what .
I was surprised and disgusted the way the Canadian crowds reacted . And , in the far less way that a few Americans did the same .

It’s so out of character for Hockey too . A sport that always plays both Anthems , before any Athletic contest .

“I am more just embarrassed that WE did that”. I have to disagree with you here Jack.

Some people who attended the game did that. Individual responsibility doesn’t go away because people are in a crowd. It was cringey only because I felt embarrassed for people who thought this was appropriate in a public place.

I get what you mean. I use “we” because it was some St. John’s fans doing it. But it was those who chanted individual choice to do it
