Connecticut (MSG), Sat., Feb. 3, 12 NOON, FOX

Here’s what I don’t get….. weren’t all these kids good shooters at their prior schools? Pitino prioritized shooting. Do you think the upgrade in competition, going against better athletes has made it more difficult to shoot? Maybe Pitino is in a sense having to adjust as well to create more open looks. At Iona, Jenkins and Clayton were superior players in that league who were able to create their own shots.
The way he gets some of his numbers is frequently annoying, but there's no doubt that Jenkins is a major conference guard.

So I guess I'm the opposite on this: I'm shocked his numbers weren't better at Iona.

Too lazy to look up what all the transfers did last season, but off the top of my head:

Dingle frequently can't seem to get out of his own way head-wise.

Conway I think was recruited as a culture setter and we just needed to get a guy in here to look like we weren't recruiting in reverse. But I'm sure Pitino expected more than what he's gotten. I don't think we ever take a transfer from that low a level of D-1 ever again.

We beat them on their court last year and we almost did it this year. Let’s show up Saturday and send these assholes back north weak in the knees and shaking their heads….

I honestly believe that if we’re playing strong we can beat any team in the league on any night. Taking this one will be a huge push to punch our tourney ticket. Let’s get it!

We need this game.

Lose this and win Tuesday and we're 6-6.
Then @ marq & PC, most likely lose both. That's 6-8.
Even if we go 5-1 in the last 6, that's stil 11-9. Is that good enough to make the ncaa? Doubt it. We'd need one win in the B.E. Tounament.

If there's one slip up then probably 2 in the B.E Tourny.

Big big game on Saturday.

Not going to say this is a must win because it's not. But after how flat we came out last night in what was a big game, we better at least play UCONN tough. No excuse not to, Clingan or no Clingan. PC gave them a competitive game at UCONN last night. For me, last night was most disappointing performance in league play to date

The fan in me says they are going to pull this off. Then there is the suffering for 40+ years Redmen fan in me that says this game is going to be very, very disappointing. I know most of you can, unfortunately, relate.

His numbers were not better at Iona was because he had Walter Clayton as his backcourt mate. That was the guy Pitino really wanted.

I was thinking if we win this game, it would easily be our biggest win in a long, long time. The wins we had over Nova and Duke during the Mullin era come to mind.

But also got me thinking. What was our biggest win of the CMA era???

Can we count our halftime lead vs. Creighton in the BET before Covid cut second half?

Think Creighton might have been top 10-15

Gotta be the win over the GUG All Stars

Our offense for most part has been reduced to two guys, Joel & Jannis. A few guys have to step up to make it harder for teams to defend us. Not sure who though. The absence of legit perimeter threats beyond Jenkins is tough to overcome.

CMA was a combined 6-22 vs. ranked teams.

Biggest wins by ranking would be @#3 Nova in 20/21 season and @#6 UConn last season. Only other top 10 win was v#10 Creighton in 19/20.

Only OOC ranked win was v#16 Arizona also his first year.

And having that legit perimeter threat shooting 30% from 3 makes me question if he is. You can't win in college hoops today when you don't have shooters and there is no reliable shooter on this team. Of guys shooting about 2 3s per game only GT is over 33% and the two top volume shooters are both at 30% with Dingle being the other. Steps up in comp have gotten to everyone's shooting from 3 as well as from the FT line where only Jenkins and Alleyne are near or above their impressive numbers from last year. Re another conversation last year DJ shot 3.34 FTs per game vs. 1.8 per game this year. Even getting to last year's rate would put him above someone like Kolek who has only shot just over 3 per game the last two years.
