No surprise with M'Q big getting ready;

Per @DraftExpress

Been told Ellenson camp already scheduling agent meetings, and only a matter of time until we get an official announcement on him entering.

I liked that kid a lot, but I think he needs a little more muscle to compete in the NBA. A year more of college would do him good, but the NBA likes to stockpile talent that isn't ready and put them at the end of benches.

I think he would be perfect in the NBA and should not spend a second more in college. :p
I wish him all the very best and hope he is a lottery pick.

Love his offensive potential and his size, but he's soft and not ready. But such is the state of things now. Money is too good to pass up.

Remember one thing.

Guys can come back next year, have an even better season next year, and have their draft value actually drop. This was a very week freshman class this year, and as such, will be a very week draft.

That's not the case next year, so if you're a first round pick this year, you should probably go.

He's likely a top 5 pick. 6'10" with perimeter skills, as well as the ability to post up. He'd be crazy if he came back.

The sooner that he can enter the NBA, the sooner that he can play through his rookie contract and get to his lucrative 2nd contract.

Also runs the court well, has a pretty good handle for a big man, and makes better than 75% of his free throws (9-10 against us in the tournament.)

I agree with all of that. If he is soft (I don't know that he is), he will toughen up in the NBA. In the meantime, his skills will translate well.

Or guys can come back for all four years and end up like Tim Duncan.

Most guys -- even talented ones like Ellenson -- can come back for 8 years and they still won't end up being close to Tim Duncan.

Even one more year of college would make a world of difference. Especially when we resume this conversation 15 years from now and Ellenson hasn't had nearly the career he could have had.

Because playing part time for Wojo is how he's going to grow his game to the utmost level? Kids should only stay to improve their draft position . . . substantially.

Isaiah Whitehead's mom, Ericka Rambert: No plans to hire agent at moment. Will see how process goes, is testing waters as expected #hallin

About 10 years ago or so, I vacationed twice in St. Croix. By far, Duncan is the most heralded Crucian, even had a giant image of him on a billboard. The funny thing about his basketball career is that as a youth he was a competitive swimmer, and the local swimming pool was destroyed by a hurricane. He then took up basketball seriously and the rest is history. Sometimes it isn't just being talented and fortunate, but what you do with your misfortune.

If he does test the waters, as is now allowed by new NBA rules, how long does he have to make a decision? I would imagine that could be a problem for Willard since he now has to wait for Whitehead's decision before offering a ship to a recruit.

Or guys can come back and end up like Terence Morris. Who you might say? Exactly.

Morris was a 6'8" SF who after his sophomore year at Maryland was considered a definite lottery pick and probably would go in the top five. He decided to stay in school for his junior and senior seasons. His draft status dropped considerably and he wound up a second round pick after finishing his four years.

Let him bulk up in the NBA, should be a lottery pick.
