Coaching Carousel

No it was a tweet that Norlander deleted about Senderoff turning the Fordham job down to remain at Kent St. He decided to re-word the original tweet but basically KSU is going to give Senderoff a big raise a major commitment for a MAC program.

Either way Fordham has his man and he comes from the Kyle Smith tree and was with him at Columbia, Mike Magpayo.

BTW both Columbia-Hovde and Fordham-Magpayo hires are from the Todd Golden-Kyle Smith coaching tree.

Funding a football program is expensive. Especially if you want to compete with Ohio State and Michigan.

A four or five star QB will cost at least $5MM (probably closer to $10MM).

$10MM alone in NIL puts a basketball only school at a very advantageous position.

I don't understand how some of these schools expect to make money now that they are paying players 20 mill a year on top of the insane costs of running a football program and flying smaller teams around the country for conference games.

Universities will have no choice but to put a vast majority of its resources in their football programs if they want to compete.

Like you said, aside from NIL, there are travel costs (which have increased since the conference expansion). The few universities will make a profit. Most will use its football as a linchpin to attract students.

Others will go the way of the dodo bird.

The SEC was the best basketball conference this season. No question. But they (and the Big 10) will take a major hit because nothing in SEC land is more important than college football.

This is what happens to me when I think Skinn is ironclad lock for Maryland. I should have known that it's too good of a job for other major coaches to not want in.

I don't think he is big enough yet for the Maryland job to be quite honest.

Will need to do more before he gets a job like Maryland.

You can ask the exact same question of men's basketball. SJU apparently plans to spend $5-$6 million directly on player salaries. As I mentioned on another thread, SJU probably makes little, if any, profit from men's basketball as it is. Georgetown basketball lost over $1 million in 2024. Even UConn men's basketball lost money in 2024. Where's the extra $6 million for SJU player salaries going to come from?

Revenue sharing plus NIL

I don’t believe the schools are paying it
Yeah, they are. Revenue sharing is coming right out the school's athletic budget. If you're going to spend an extra $6 million on paying players and you're already losing money, you have a problem.

I'm sure they have a plan, but I would bet it's going to involve cutting non-revenue sports.
