Coach Keady

Coach Keady is a great guy, and Beast is 100% correct in everything he said.

Having said that, his coaching days are long gone. He's here because Lavin wants him as a security blanket and there is a loyalty both ways there.

As much as I hate to say it, since I love Coach Keady, the spot could be put to better use from a practical standpoint.

I don't get to see the team in person, but I've watched most of their televised games. I don't know if it's overrated players, a bad mix, poor coaching or the players not responding, but there is something fundamentally wrong with this group. The payroll for the entire staff must be near three million, with the contract going through next year, so what are the realistic options at this point? The year will play out, and barring a turn-around, like we had in Lavin's initial year, we are facing a year and a half of bad basketbell and our already shrinking fan base will continue to dissipate. I fear Lavin's success that first year was due to Hardy, Kennedy, etc., much like David Cain hid Mahoney's deficiencies. S JU had it's best seasons when we had exceptional point guard play - Mark Jackson, Cain, Erich Barkley and Hardy. Either Jordan or Branch will emerge and lead this team or this will be a long year.

It will not be Branch.

It's a bit disturbing how people are picking on Coach Keady when we all know the person at the root of the problem: Shogo Fukuda

Have you noticed how poorly the team chaplain her performed this year? And the team managers aren't sitting on towels to keep them warm, or measuring the temperature of Gatorade multiple times during the game.

Imagine being retired on a pension, you made great money in your
working years, and someone you know comes along and says I'll
pay you $200,000 to put a yellow pad on your lap and give a talk
to the Red White club before games and (wait for it) live in NYC
for six months.

He does a 2 minute interview w/ Minko after the game also

With the amount of people yelling Jesus Christ during games or Holy Sh&t what the hell is this lineup I think the chaplain has his hands full

When I was a student, a guy in our section used to scream out during quiet moments in a timeout, "The Indian's gay!" (He was)

The same guy in our section would also wait for quiet moments to scream "Hey, who stole my wallet? Russo, did you take it?" (Joe Russo, head baseball coach was arrested during the college world series for shoplifting a wallet from a department store.

Ha! In this world of every minute of a game having an advertiser, was thinking of John Minko giving us the "Peyote Lounge" starting lineup Saturday.

Yes but I love the loyalty. But loyalty would be better served if we were a winning team

Minko is waiting for the SJU-Butler game at Hinkle.. A few years ago, Mike and the Mad Dog, paid for him to go to a Butler NCAA game for WFAN. The Mink Man is Butler Bulldog.

Was on track team there. Now he runs from Francesa when shift is over.

As I posted years ago I coached softball for years against Minko in the (primarily) Bergen County UGALS league. Never met a nicer man in my life, just an absolute gem.

Insightful article on Lavin and Keady's relationship.

This quote from Keady stood out to me:

"Heck, I know he's handled it a lot better than I would have," Keady said of the losing streak, which ended Thursday night with a one-point win over Seton Hall. "I don't think we ever lost five in a row when I was at Purdue, but if we did, I've forgotten about it by now. I always figured, if we weren't winning, it was because I wasn't recruiting well enough."
