Coach K

And Grayson Allen was his typical D-bag self and nothing said to him.

WOODEN HAD CLASS

Hard to compare anyone in the spotlight from that era to anyone of this era with everyone having a video camera in their pockets, talking heads galore, 24 hour news (and sports only news!) networks, blogs, internet etc.

This whole "incident" wouldn't have even been a blip in a news story anywhere back in the 40s/50s/60s/70s...and without the internet, even if it was, no one would have even heard about it as it wouldnt have been worth a mention in the word count allotted to the article - which likely would have been dedicated pretty much only to the game.

It's all good when a rat gets the cheese. But when the rat doesn't get what it wants...

If I was an NBA team I would pass on Allen and his attitude.

If I was an NBA team I would pass on Allen and his attitude.

I would pass on him in the first round because he's a 6'4 guard who's best talent - getting to the basket and finishing - is less likely to work as successfully with bigger more athletic players.

Someone will take him in the 2nd round.

If Christian Laettner and Rasheed Wallace can have 10+ year careers, it is obvious that attitude is a distant second behind talent, skill, etc. Grayson will probably be in the D League next year after a 2nd round draft pick.

If he's smart he'll stay in school and improve in basketball and in his attitude.

I think there is a good chance he'd get hurt in the NBA. There were guys that wanted to hurt Laetner. I don't remember the details but at least one even publicly said so. But Laetner was a lot bigger and tougher.

And here I thought his best talent was tripping opponents, then acting like nothing had happened. :)

I mean I hate Duke more than anyone, but come on, Brooks just drained a three in the final minute when they're up big. And eliminated them from the tournament and you want him to hug the guy who just did that? I would never in a million years. It would be more damning had he hugged it out like that.

Coach K lied. Period. He has no business talking to another player like that. Have no issue with Allen on this.

He's gotten to the point where he believes now he can do anything and say anything and nobody can do a damn thing about it. Unfortunately, I believe he's correct on that.

If I'm the Oregon coach, I make a public statement that another coach should not be coaching any of my kids. After all, I didn't coach Grayson Allen on how he shouldn't be tripping other players.

this is what may happen to Grayson

The kid casually tossed one up from 30 feet to avoid a 30 second violation. Only problem is he's so good it happened to go in. I'd tell my kids to do the same. By taking the shot the clock keeps running and the game ends faster.

I agree, this is common at the end of games. If I was Brooks I woulda told Coach " to beat it. This is why people don't like Coach K and Duke. It's their pompous attitude. Instead of taking the loss like men, you have Coach K lecturing an athlete from another team while his own player his being a poor sport. It shows that it starts at the top, a classy coach would of congratulated Brooks and said good luck the rest of the way.

Of course if K just put some walk ons in down 12 with 42 secs to play Oregon would have done the same and all this would have been avoided but Tx A&M might have stopped that practice for eternity. I was surprised to see that walk ons only played a total of 10 minutes for Duke all year, compared to 58 for St Johns.

As if Allen wouldn't have done the same.

Oregon should feel fortunate that that the shot taker hasn't been made to sit out their next game for committing such a flagrant show of disrespect.
