CO/Jordan

If Jordan's decision to leave/hire an agent was as definite as many people believe, wouldn't it stand to reason that he would have made that announcement already, as the identity of the coach would be irrelevant.

Regarding CO, from the school's perspective, its very clear cut. Either you are definitively initiaiting a parting of ways with him because of the recent incident or you are not.

There's no in between. The rest is up to him. From a bball perspective, we're certainly better off with him.

I haven't read of any players from any teams making such announcements as of yet, but maybe Michael Frazier has per Chad Ford's latest list. Also note that Rysheed and Chris aren't even mentioned in the possibilities. If they leave it'll be for foreign pastures.

Frazier has zero chance & I believe is already involved with an agent. This is just one example of pro readiness not being much of a factor often with impressionable kids. Sadly, what the player has in his head & what handlers tell them frequently trumps sensible decision making.

I really don't get the comments directed towards CO. I'm annoyed with him too, but would gladly cheer him on and forgive him if he truly shows remorse.

Aren't we suppose to forgive? He's a young kid who has made some dumb mistakes. It doesn't mean we should throw him away because some here think they are way above him as a human being.

I wonder how much better many of us would look if the dumb things we did in college became public knowledge.

There are many here that were done with Harrison a few years ago, which I also thought was wrong. Look at how that turned out.

I know we think basketball and wins are most important. But let's not forget that these are young kids, not pro athletes. It doesn't mean they can do whatever they want, but they should be given a little more slack than this.

Yeah, it's always fun looking at this page later in the process and wondering what certain players are thinking, especiallly when there's 40 early entrants who think they'll compete with Euros and a few seniors for 32 first round picks. (admittedly I think Kaminsky and Jerian Grant are the only seniors with lottery potential this year).

And meanwhile, Kris Dunn, who is projected to go in the first round, is thinking of staying another year at Providence. He appears to be surrounded by some solid people, including his father.

Stating the obvious, solid parental support & guidance is invaluable, but so often not in the equation.

Rysheed was being a little brat in the beginning of B.E. play, but in February and March I felt that he got his act together. I'd welcome the kid back.
CO, sure lets let him on the team again. He can do good all season, then do something in March and he won't play. Then we'll all be disappointed again, I'm all for it.

Yes we all know they are young but when it becomes a frequent occurrence it gets the fans angry. There must be some remorse and co hasn't even apologize for his actions Co has been thrown out of games twice this year for elbowing players. Don't forget. We were pissed at dlo for being suspended but we forgave him.

I agree with what you are saying. We all have done stupid things in our day, many of which are probably alot worse than smoking a little weed. However, how many of us were getting free tuition from our university? And how many of us were constantly in the public eye as college students? These kids aren't complete celebrities, but they are way more recognizable than most college students. When you are a student athlete at a major university, you need to have a little bit higher standards than the average college student.

There's always room for redemption in the Vincentian ethos.

He had multiple chances to redeem himself. He can do it elsewhere.

As definitive as that sounds, we need every decent body available in order to have a good 2015-2016. I hope whoever the coach is has more conviction than me to not wrestle with this.

If he shows remorse and does all the right things you still have to have concerns about his influence on the incoming players. It's a tough call. Coaches are paid to win.

+1 to Paultz. Every year there are 15 guys it seems who have no business coming out, but do so anyway, presumably because they just don't want to be in college anymore (and get paid somewhere) or have bad "advice". And then you have guys who are most certainly first rounders -- Harrell last year, Dunn if he declared this year, Grant had he come out last year (probably), etc - who stay and improve their draft stock.

Wonder how Providence's roster for next year will impact Dunn's decision. No Henton, no Green and no Derosiers.

Obekpa destroyed any chance at the NBA this year with his suspension. Jordan just isn't ready and I'm not sure any team is willing to take a project at guard. Guards are supposed to be NBA ready.

Both of these guys have question marks off the court that Sampson never had.

Yup, but will they make sensible decisions?

No.

That is what it comes down to. Typically I would say they wouldn't, but these guys are just so far off.
