Hey any thoughts on Christian Jones ? I thought the guy played really well early on. He was a real force inside. I understand the PT issue with Sampson and O'Block"pa, but he didnt even get in last game. Am i missing something fellas?

IMO, was a good late recruit, who will develop over time. He seems to know the game, passes well and has decent touch around the basket. Rebounding and pounding inside seem deficient, but hopefully will get better with hard work & coaching.

Real force inside? He never did a thing inside. Everything he has done, both good and bad, has been from the outside. Right now Jones is a 6'7 228 soft SF and we need him to be a banger.

watch some of the earlier games....he played well around the basket. stats are deceiving, remember sampson took some mins too. Just saying id like to see the kid get some more mins.

I watched every minute of the season and even watched the replay of a few. Jones did absolutely nothing from the inside except have about a dozen rebounds bounce off his hands or get ripped away from him. He's a finesse player at this point.

You'd like to see him get more minutes, and I'd like to see his rear never leave the bench.

This board overrates Jones more than any other athlete I've ever seen lol...he basically has done nothing yet he gets called "a force inside".

I think Lavin overhyped Jones. He was a good pickup considering how far under the radar he was. I dont expect much from him this year. But I feel he will be a nice 4 year contributor, and maybe a starter his JR or SR year.

I thought he showed flashes of skill but he needs to get tougher but he will be solid 3-4 years down the road

Actually Jones had two very nice rebounds right at the start of the 2nd half of the Holy Cross game that both led to hoops that helped us off to a fast start in the 2nd. But hey, i guess you only watched that game once and didn't break the tape down looking for all Jones' missed rebounds. Actually, I am more surprised that you bothered with the tapes because you knew what he was by his HS stats. What is more amazing to me actually is all the posters who you have convinced you are really on to something. Jones is averaging slightly less rebounds than Obepka if you prorate the minutes. Now Obepka blocks shots and while Jones is a fine passer and decent shooter no one would argue that Obepka is not the better player. My point is your whole Jones can't rebound premise is nonsense, two rebounds in 16 minutes is not impressive by any means but 2 small a sample to give much credence to. Except of course for those that can look at HS stats and judge a player.

I believe that is called verbal consumption (if I'm correct). Feeding folks the same stuff over and over 'til they take the bait and get themselves full on it. LOL

Quite frankly, I think Jones is still finding himself as a player. I still think he'll be able to help us at some point this season. He may not long many minutes again this season, but he'll come in handy. He'll probably end up being a valuable four-year player.

He has a nice, mid-range jumper, and, as stated earlier, he seem to be one of the better passers on the team.

How can he get in a rhythm when he's constantly being taken out of the game?

Lavin is not going to bench Jakarr unless he gets into early foul trouble.

I wish some of you would lay off this kid as he's a freshman. You talk about him like he's having these problems in is 3rd year or something.

Jones has shown flashes. Ignore them if you will.

We got beat on the boards by NJIT when Jones didn't even get off the bench. That was his fault too I guess.

You seem like a very bitter person who constantly has to resort to personal attacks.

i didnt want an attack on the kid either. I like him and just like to see more of him on the court. He didnt even get in the last game, thats why i asked the question. We all know O-Block-pa, and Sampson will get the most PT, but just curious as to why he didnt get in at all. Thought that with Orlando situation up in the air that Christian would be seeing some time, but hey, i fully trust Coach Lav...In Lav We Trust, as far as im concerned.....Go Johnnies !!!

Like his long range prospects but right now he looks like an all airport player as Dickie V is want to say. For his size and strength needs to become a better rebounder which is what we need right now.

And remember before the season even started people on here were wondering why he wasn`t recruited more, well I guess there`s a reason for everything huh? Seems like all hype just like Bourgault. If he was a Kerr/Paxson why can`t he shoot the second he catches it and hit the 3. Those 2 could do that.

I know you're not gonna compare Bourgault to two guys who were very, good collegiate players, who went on to have solid NBA careers. You're trying to compare Bourgault to what those two did once they were in the NBA. Check out what Kerr and Paxson did in college.

Maybe, Bourgault wasn't the player we were hoping, but let's allow the season to play out before officially writing him off.

All I`m saying is if the kid is that good that Lavin compared him to those those two ( which might of put to much pressure on him) then shoot the freaking ball. The rim is the same size as in France right, the basket is 10 feet there right? So if he`s a that good a shooter then just shoot it and stop hesitating. If he hit it there then he should be able to shoot here. The defenders are on him like glue over here right? Don`t you think they would be on him like glue over there as well? no excuses just shoot the freaking ball.

If Jones and Marco don't see much time in the ooc sked then their chances are even less when it's BE time.

How about Marco plays more then 5 minutes a game! Jones only played 4, I don't get the rotation, shouldn't these games be used to get these guys some minutes so they are ready for BE play if called upon?

Also, can we set some screens to get D'lo and Marco? Seems our halfcourt offense has turned into a one on one fest.

I've been saying our offense seems like alot of one-on-one for a few weeks. I'd also like to see some screens for Harrison and Bourgault. Maybe, they can get free via dribble penetration when Branch comes aboard.
