Thanks for the vid MJ! I dont know what up with this kid or why there isnt any info on him but damn, he looks like a beast!

what year is he?

2012 according to the reports. The video that MJ posts is a good one and shows a lot about how he plays. He can certainly finish and likes to play down low. His D looks good, as well. Only four or five jump shots, so don't expect much from outside. Looks like he could be a good role player for us, although I'm not sure we want to give up a ship that we could use potentially on a higher rated 2013 player. Lav's knows what he's doing, so if he really likes this kid, then I'm sure he'll do well here.

i have a good feeling if lavin wants this kid he knows something!! who else is in for his services?

I have complete faith in Lavin to make the right call on this one, but I would be surprised if this kid is such a diamond in the rough that we burn a ship on him for next year. Also might mean Wood is out for this year.

I like his build and the way he attacks the tin. I'm not sure about the comp, but it's obvious the staff views some things that could translate well on the collegiate level.

It's also somewhat of a headscratcher because you're left wondering how is a kid still on the market, if he's any good. Maybe, there could've been some academics that had to be straightened out. He could've gotten injured and missed a bunch of games. Who knows!?!

@Jnaw: I also do not wanna miss out on a potentially better player in the '13 class, but I'm guessing the staff will still have a scholarship or two to use on that particular class. I guess we'll have to trust the coaching staff eye for talent, as Jones is certainly under-the-radar.

He looks like a more athletic, less powerful Ricardo Gathers.

I assume Darrick is not qualifying.
I also assume Lavin may be expecting a one-and-done next year and/or a transfer request.

Christian Jones – 6’6 Post-Grad WF – IMG Post Grad: A Texan, Jones is one of those guys you wind up and let him play. He is strong, has a 40-inch vertical and gets a lot accomplished due to his activity and athletic ability. Jones is a strong and well-built wing that is quick off the floor, a good offensive rebounder, and is an effective mid-range shooter when open.

Don't get me wrong but do we really need another role player? Only going to lead to transfers in 2013. Still the kid can play, maybe another Sir Dominic.

Where was this from?

in the zags article looks like he has some deep sju roots in Phil DLO and Branch and even Mo
training at IMG, the kid looks like a beast and would be a really nice finishing touch to an already
stellar class!! does anyone know his rank and other schools that have offered?

I doubt he's ranked anywhere. He had a visit to Baylor earlier this month.

I think Steve is anticipating 3, and possibly as many as 5 spots to fill from the 2013 class.

Sampson could be a one and done, Gift is leaving after next year, and depending on how things play out Harrison could go also. Don't forget that Garrett could leave for baseball at any time. We bring in Hooper next year and then we'd still have a few spots to fill.

I think having Hooper around helps keep Jakarr around for a 2nd year. They are really inseparable.
