Central Conn., Tue. Nov. 14, 6:30p, FS2, 970 AM

Simon super athletic. Trimble a bull with a nice touch. Ponds ultra smooth, if sometimes out of control. Some guys shoot first, no question asked. This ain't 'Hoosiers'! But looking good at the half, 43 -27.

Yakwe can't even get a sniff of rebound or a pass from a teammate.

yeah as soon as I posted about decent minutes he got a Goal tend and offensive foul. But he gave a good 5 minutes mistake free.

Frustrating that this is yet another game I'm not able to get on TV. Last game was one thing, but I don't get FS2 at home, only FS1, and it's not streaming on the Fox Sports Go app either.

Meanwhile, SNY is discussing UConn pregame and getting ready to show their game....

That is the only way SNY could get on TV in CT. They were not on any systems until they picked up UCONN

I don't think a coach is supposed to talk individual statistics. But do you let Simon know he only needs two boards for a double double?

Yakwe still can't get a touch and transition is where he could probably do OK.

Rest of team so quick he's an afterthought.

Won by 25, but could have easily been 35+ if w/ had a defense.

Amar tried to use his legs to defend on the unbounds. Looked silly.

Yakwe is a ghost. I feel he's a goner after this season.

I think they are trying to get Yakwe as much minutes as possible with the lead hopefully pays off later in the season. CC was very quick and could shoot. They turned the ball over too much but part of that was our guys. I thought the defense was the best I've seen from this team in 3 seasons. That said I think we'll need Simon to do this every game to stay competitive. Our two best rebounders are Simon and Ponds. Big gap from there.

Great game against an overmatched opponent. SJU showed great athleticism (Simon, Ponds, Lovett) and court skills, but were sloppy. Too many throw-'em up shots, sloppy ball-handling on drives, and a few turnovers after steals killed me--but a good, energetic win.
SJU looked 'young' at times but a very fast team--for the most part.
Good start to the season.

Paul -agree but Yakwe must have had ~ 20 minutes, maybe more but had 0 pts, 1 rebound

It's flat out awful and saw one def. rebound miss that he went in total opposite direction an gave up 2.

He's a liability as much as Amar.

Good assessment. They have very little margin for error and need to maintain defensive intensity more consistently. Love Ponds but he, in particular, needs to commit to defense.

Top 20 sophomore Nate Tabor form Long Island was a visitor for St. John's win tonight .#sjubb

Amar finished with 3 rebounds, same as Ahmed. I would rather see Owens start ahead of him.

Simon did a great job on defense. Held a kid who scored 22 points to 1 point. #14 was a tough match for us. Actually thought Yawke played him best. Good effort for most of the game. Should have our hands full with a big Nebraska team.
