CBI or whatever post season?

the question was asked on the providence site...but it applies to us as well.

we'd have to run the table to make the ncaa tournament. the nit is pretty much out since we'd be below .500.

should we go to a pay to play tournament as we did under norm to gain "post season" experience...or is it time to hang the balls up.

Newsman (great topic to bring up)

I think the CBI is a joke, this program should not be involved in that better to rest Harkless ankle and give our short rotation. Plus why should the school shell out money to play in a 3rd or 4th rate tourney, time to hang up the balls.

Agree w/ Tux, play. The more these kids play the better. A run in this tourney (not out of the question) would only bolster their mindset going into next year.

let the players vote whether or not to continue the season.

If the players vote to continue the season then please explain why you would deny them that opportunity.

In my mind these 6 players are special young men who have earned our respect.

Let the players determine whether to continue the season.

say the worst happens and we lose to pitt...wouldn't it be better to end the season on a high note with a championship however meaningless???

a good run in the BET and a CBI or other tournament would be unnecessary. a defeat post BET would give us 20 losses...that's a real bummer.

.Hang the sneakers up

This kids have 2 years worth of experience in one season. Pack it in. NIT would have been nice but CBI is meaningless. They will be in the Dance next year.

IMO, I think that is the best route to go, Otis. Barring winning the Big East Tournament, then I'd be all for putting away the basketballs. But, I probably would ask the players and see what they think. If this was a junior or senior laden (or, even a sophomore laden) squad, then I wouldn't even inquire with the players, and just end the season.

Considering, this is a freshmen laden squad, then I'd give them the choice of playing in the CBI. Actually, I have a feeling the Big East Tournament will be the last time our group plays this season.

I was against St. John's playing in the CBI the last time around, however, it's a new day, and this makes a lot of sense.

There is no question that we have to play. It gives the team another week of practice and a decent opponent. Win or go home, is something these kids need experience with. A little run in the CBI could do wonders.

I wouldn't play. These kids have more minutes than expected on their bodies. They don't need any in some third or fourth rate tourney.God forbid something happens in such a meaningless game that destroys next year's chances.

Play and travel so you don't have to pay. Only home teams pay to play and then try and make it back with ticket sales.

Selfishly, I'd be happy to see these guys play a few more games this season. And I'm of the mind that any post-season is experience is better than none at all. I'd rather see our scores showing up for a couple of more weeks than have us completely disappear during the most talked about time of the college hoops season, even it isn't the tourney we want to be a part of.

I like the idea of letting the kids vote. They may be into it and have a desire to go.

But, I wonder what we would all be saying if god forbid Moe or D'Angelo tore an ACL in the CBI?! Kiss the NCAAs next year goodbye if someone gets a major injury.

You do have to weigh the good and the bad and figure out is the CBI really worth it?

But it is probably best to let the kids decide.

Unfortunately, barring any good run in the BE tourny, they will not make the CBI tourny.
