Carmelo Anthony’s son

There were stories (not certain how true) that Anthony was interested in SJU, if he was recruited harder because wanted to come back to NYC because he was born here.
Another Jarvis fail . If he couldn't get time at Christ the king makes you wonder how good the kid really is? But intriguing

He was only a sophomore and last years CTK team was loaded with upperclassmen including Brandon Gardner and Brandon Williams. He decided to transfer to the better program.

Showing my age, my two favorite Johnnies to watch are Man-Hatten and Showtime Hill.
I’ve told this story on here before, but I was in a summer class that was open to just athletes and all we did was go on field trips to places like the Bronx Zoo and NYC parks. I rode with Showtime and Grady Reynolds in Showtime’s SUV.

Kayan Anthony is a Junior at LuHi after transferring there last winter from CTK. He is 6’4” and I last I heard he was a Top 100 (and climbing) in the class of 2025. Definitely worth looking\
I caught a couple of LuHi games that were televised this year. Edgecombe obviously gets the most attention, but I liked what I saw from Anthony. Expect him to continue to rise through the rankings.

With all the commercials Melo is in now I don't think NIL is going to play a factor in his decision. They'll just add Kiyan to a new BOXY BOYS commercial.

Why are we not involved at all
The highlights are impressive, he can shoot.
However, I saw him play once, so totally understand if it was an off night. It was Jan or Feb 2024 at Hofstra vs Montverde, totally outmatched physically. Granted, Montverde has dominant players, but he just couldn't do anything. Realistically, I don't know physically how much bigger he can get, he's 6ft 5, but a slight frame. Melo was skinny in HS, but he had the body type to get bigger.
If this was pre NIL and he was willing to sit a year or play minimally, I'd take him in a heartbeat, he can shoot and is not afraid to keep shooting. But I just didn't see the top 100 prospect that night.

Devastating how it turned out.

Here are the April, 2002 rankings from ESPN of that 2002 class:

#1 Melo
#2 Lenny Cooke
#18 Jason Fraser
#21 Daryll “Showtime” Hill
#24 Elijah Ingram

Jarvis got commitments from #2, #21, and #24. Pitino got commitments from #29 and #58. Jay Wright built the core of his Final Four team from this class.

This really brings back memories. During the Spring and Summer 2001 AAU season, our New York Panthers basketball team had a starting lineup of:
Darryl Hill PG
Taquan Dean SG
Curtis Sumpter SF
Charlie Villaneuva PF
Jason Fraser C
Coming off the bench were Tim Doyle, Marvin McCullough, Aubin Scott, Josh Wright, and Mike Claxton.

The only tournament that we lost was the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions over Memorial Day weekend in North Carolina. The Michigan Mustangs with Anthony Roberson and Maurice Ager beat us in the Championship game. After that tournament, Lenny Cooke and Gary Ervin left our team to play elsewhere.

With the players listed above, we then proceeded to win the 3 Stripes at Hofstra, The Big Time in Vegas, and the Double Pump in LA. Jason Fraser destroyed Chris Bosh every time he played against him. Darry Hill ran through point guards, the only one he struggled with was Nate Robinson during the Double Pump tournament. However, Marvin McCullough stepped up and slowed Nate down. Curtis Sumpter and Charlie Villaneuva outplayed everyone they matched up against. Taquan Dean was a lights out shooter. No team out there had a starting 5 that could match ours. This was definitely one of the best AAU teams ever put together. The only reason they are not recognized as such is because of injuries some of our players had in college.

As far as rankings are concerned, Deron Williams of Illinois and the Utah Jazz was ranked #100, LMAO.

Back in those days I certainly knew who Gary Charles was, but often said about you, “Who is that guy, he is everywhere”? My coaching friend used to say you were Gary’s “consigliere” S. lol

Does Carmelo Anthony or his wife live in Middle Village, Queens?

No knock on Middle Village, but really??

They have a lot of money and I imagine most people in Middle Village don't have their money.

He went to a better HS program, hes going to play at LuHi. CtK was not happy he left in anyway
He had several good upper class men in front of him when he surprisingly left CTK in the second half of his Sophomore year. CTK is a good program but LuHi is better and playing more national games. Kiyan is a starter on a team full of D1 prospects.
