UK would not have to release him from his NLOI. Coaching changes do not provide automatic release.

If he does I believe the exception below would allow him to play next year with whoever he wants to.

A student-athlete may transfer and play immediately if for a two-year period prior to starting any practice or competition at the new school, the student-athlete did not participate at all in intercollegiate athletics for two years, except for one 14-day period (i.e. a tryout). Edit: But then again, now that i reread the wording and think about it maybe this doesn't apply as he hasn't enrolled yet so...he hasn't actually enrolled so I think he can just open his recruitment back up. He's not actually transferring because he hasn't enrolled.

Agree about Briscoe. His relationship seems to have been with Lavin, not with the university. Same with Brandon Sampson.

If I recall, a couple of Buzz Williams' Marquette recruits were released when he bolted.
