C7 Update

Question- (in all seriousness) what does a school like SJU do with the $3M split? Where does that go? Advertising/marketing, facility upgrades, coaches salaries, all of the above?

The only way to do that is to do what the university should have done 10 years ago: level the building and build a new one from scratch.

Why would we (or ACC) continue to cater to ND??? Allowing them to benefit from some sports yet keep their football elite status? The Big East does not need ND - they need us.

couldn't agree more. unless the league grows to 16 teams...notre dame can take a hike.

I don't want UCONN invited. I hope they somehow whither in a lesser conference. I know their basketball conference won't be bad with Memphis, Temple and Cinci - but it's entirely possible they could take a step backwards. UCONN been too good at recruiting in NYC. I know Lav is a great recruiter, but every advantage we have over UCONN the better. I hope we aim to keep them in a hopefully sub-par conference. The St. John's intra-conference and inter-conference schedule should be strong enough to suit our needs.
 
Notre Dame, UCONN, and everyone else who looked to flee the Big East for money can croak before I'd offer them a place in the new conference. All the C7 schools were left to die by these schools, to have the conference most of them founded destroyed by their avarice. Let their basketball progrmas rot the same way the C7 schools were destined to do.
 
Stevens isn't leaving Butler, but most importantly, ND, ESPN, and Syracuse no longer dictate our future. St. John's, Georgetown, etc did what needed to be done. When Disney bought ESPN, they bullied everyone, including the big east, but we didn't die. I'm so proud of my alma mater for looking forward and not letting the channel we built bully us around. Big East 2.0 is better for it

The addition of Butler and Xavier is fantastic. Creighton is another solid program(likely they join in the coming days). I'm not too crazy about Saint Louis and Dayton making it a 12 team league. Gonzaga and St Mary's would be ideal but its not feasible for them to fly cross country every week. Any better options for the 11th and 12th members?
 
Love that the cards seem to be falling into place for this change. On a selfish note I would love to see Dayton added as that would give me a game within 30 minutes of me...and based on this season one I would enjoy watching us win year after year

Nah. Some things around here will always trigger certain well reasoned responses without the threat of banning from me.

1. Claiming I use the word "gravy" instead of "sauce"
2. Trying to convince me the abortion known as deep dish pizza is better than a pizza margherita, which is nothing short os a slice of heaven
3. Saying anything remotely nice about Uconn, a program we all should take great joy in watching fall apart
