Anyone know if we can contact this kid? Attended Archbishop Molloy, was signed to be a freshman playing at Columbia this season, however, something went wrong and he did not graduate from Molloy. This is someone the staff should actively look into.
 
By all accounts kid was a very good student. Molloy and/or Columbia not likely to be involved in any kind of questionable activity. Yet can't find anything on the kid which would explain his absence from Columbia. Will dig a little deeper.

Thank you for feeling my son was a big loss, it was out of our hands. He was ready to attend columbia, only columbia knows way Cj is not there. Because Cj's not sure why he's not there
 
First of all C.J. is an outstanding student who came to Molloy from 180 Scholars,one of the city's most academically competitive junior highs. He was accepted for early admission by Columbia last year which is why he announced early.
It's also worth noting that ivy league and high end academic schools frequently use prep programs to get athletes an extra year of strength and conditioning improvement, or in the case of football time for a guy to play the position he'll play in college. Also from time to time those schools use it to help class distribution on their roster since their recruiting options are so limited by academic requirements. Need proof?? Yale currently has 3 kids from Northfield Mount Herman and one from Winchendon Prep C.J.is currently at The Peddie School in Hightstown New Jersey which is geared more toward kids prepping for Ivies than for kids trying to meet minimum requirements for freshman participation. As for his playing his hoops IQ playimaking and shooting are all excellent. What made some schools hesitant to recruit him is a lack of quickness. As a defender he's very good at reading the game and getting steals off the ball but struggles to guard the ball. He reports that his time at Peddie has been well spent working on his athleticism and strength. He also reports that he has re-applied for early admission to Columbia. Last season in addition to the Ivy League schools he drew interest from Stanford, Vanderbilt and Davidson. He's a very good player and a better kid

On the Football side, one of my sons friends and former youth football teammates went the prep route after graduating from High School. He was supposed to go to Yale afterwards but wound up at Princeton instead.

I agree. Kyle Smith has done a solid job at Columbia, not the easiest place to succeed. His teams play smart in a very efficient system at both ends of the court. As you probably know, he was an outstanding AC at St. Mary's where he recruited quite well in US & abroad.

I agree. Kyle Smith has done a solid job at Columbia, not the easiest place to succeed. His teams play smart in a very efficient system at both ends of the court. As you probably know, he was an outstanding AC at St. Mary's where he recruited quite well in US & abroad.

I would hire him in a NY second. I would keep our Columbia guy Tony Chiles and hire two strong assistant coaches with national recruiting ties and things could change radically.
 
@NYPost_Brazille: For those who have asked me about CJ Davis/Columbia. He's prepping at The Peddie School, source says, and still in plans at Columbia.
