Butler Game

A quick roll call insertion. I will be there in my regular seats for this game. I hope the 9pm start does not equate to a smal crowd and low energy. As everyone is stating, we need to remain focused and take care of business. Part of growing up and becoming "professiona" is doing your job day in and day out. Practive. Competition regardless of the level. I have to believe this Butler team is better than their 2-11 record. Take care of business boys. Part of the process.

This team has had some tough losses but they are not very good.
It is a shame Stevens is no longer coaching there anymore because it will be hard to sustain the level of excellence the program reached with him as coach and they would have been a huge asset to the Big East. Without Stevens they really bring ZERO juice to the conference.
We should blow these guys out of the building - they are a very underwhelming bunch...i hope that our guys arent looking ahead to Villanova.

The crowd will only be small if SJU fans don't show up. We need to win 4 of 5, and to win home games, there has to be a home court advantage. I'll be there tomorrow.

Our hot streak has coincided with me not walking into the arena late as usual and after tipoff so I will give myself extra time coming in from home and will make my grand entrance before pre game introductions

Dealing with an injury that may keep me from the game, but unless I'm in the ER, I'm planning on being there tomorrow. If I can make I'll probably be at Stout or Thirsty Fan pre-game.

What did you tear a muscle in your arm from lifting too many beers ? :)

Anyone know if Branch practiced today? Would like to see him back ASAP.

I am expecting to run them out of the gym early.
Hopefully we can pack the Garden to show these guys support and give them the home court advantage they deserve.

LOL, I should be so lucky, although that was one of the best post game festivities for me in a long time.

The guys might be thinking the same thing, which I hope they`re not.

I know Lavin wouldn`t do it, but maybe D-Lo should try to keep the troops motivated tomorrow night.
Maybe say that we gotta win by atleast 15pnts, or tomorrow we all run 20 laps.
That would give them something to play for.

If they run them out of the gym early, Karl Hess, Michael Stephens and their brethren will get the other team back into the conversation.

I'd be very surprised if we draw well tomorrow night. I'd say we'll get around what we saw for the Creighton game 7-8,000. That being said if the fans are loud and into the game like the last 2 games I will take it. May be a lot to ask against Butler but kids deserve it.

I guess packing the Garden is a relative term. Garden capacity for basketball is 19,812.

Garden will probably have to set up tents outside the Garden for the long line of people waiting to buy tickets to shield them from the snow.

The halftime show with Bruno Mars will definitely bring in a few hundred more.

But Steve Lavin and the Red Storm don't plan to take Butler lightly. "This year they been as competitive as anyone in our conference with six overtime games, losing four," he said. "But they’ve taken the top half of the league to the wire."

In their last game, Doug McDermott needed a three-pointer in the last minute to give the Bluejays a 64-63 victory in Indianapolis. Ten of their games have been decided by five points or less, with the Bulldogs going 4-6.

The problem seems to be rebounding and raw talent. The Bulldogs are near the bottom in offensive and defensive rebounding, with big men who struggle to grab boards - outside of Kameron Woods. And the team has been poor at shooting the ball from all over the court; still they manage to slow teams down and make enough plays to stay close to opponents.

Butler had season-lows for rebounds (21), field goal attempts (43), three-point field goals (1) and three-point field goal attempts (8) against St. John's last month. They will be looking to play the Johnnies a little tighter and earn a breakthrough; that loss was one of three in Big East play that was by more than 10 points.

Would the game have been closer if Kellen Dunham shot more than 1/5 from behind the arc? If now-surging point guard Alex Barlow was playing with the tenacity he has shown in recent games?

St. John's has to avoid playing loose, down to the opponent; Butler is crafty enough to earn a signature victory tonight.
