Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

bravo to the yanks for winning the wild card game.
i dislike intensely the one game playoff format. play 162 then one more. $$$$.
coming back from 2 first inning first row homers was fantastic/iconic.
props to girard(i) for his decisions. masterfully handling the bullpen. yanking sevy. hit & run with gardner & all rise.
bravo to the bullpen. a bullpen game for the yankee decade.
great to see that as every half inning ended, the yankee reliever showed pumped up emotion as he left the mound.
what a treat to have all rise & kraken for another 5 plus years.

2 singles & a double for a team shutout only 3 times in 2017. ugh.
garcia forgot that home plate is 60 ft 6 inches away. too many pitches bounced in front of the plate.
cleveland has a very , very good lineup. as does houseton.
i cant see either the redsucks nor yankees getting into world series.
cleveland starter took advantage of a wide plate & "blind" 3rd base ump.

i once sat near girard(i) at yankee stadium. it was during a period joe was out of mlb. he said he was there as a fan & implied he bought the tickets himself as he loves baseball.
i have been a big fan of girard(i) - first name joe, italian American, etc..
but he blew it in yesterday's game by not challenging the call that his catcher asked him to challenge.

I like Girardi, as well, and hope he is the manager for years to come. That said, I agree, last night's loss is totally on him.

Yep, wtf didn't the call which Chisenhall was hit?
Replays show the ball hit the bat and sanchez caught the freaking ball, which means it would have been a strikeout. Well the inning continues and Lindor hits the granny.

You gotta chellenge that, especially in the freaking playoffs.

many bravos were achieved tonight. game 4.
the kahn faced batters #2 thru #7, all lefties, and they all went down.

The Wrath of Kahn(le) was on full display.

He was a very nice late season pickup.

what a regular season it would have been IF, sanches, castro, hicks, bird all healthy.

And Didi out at the season's start
And who really knows about #99's health mid season
great year all around no matter what happens this Wednesday
:cheer:

didi, d rob, didi, gardner, didi, girard(i), didi, cc, didi, chapman. didi, cashman...................

in the immortal words of george custer. their big inning was bigger than our big inning.
tough loss. no astro extra base hit.
infield single, outfield single. seeing eye single & thats the game.
judge has to be going crazy with strike zone. his second at bat 3 & 1 count. ball inches below his knees - called strike.
next pitch even lower, he swings & misses. 8th inning - ball 4 inches inside - strike. next pitch he swings at ball 3 inches out side.

Yes, very disturbing

great, great comeback win.
bravo to cashman for getting pickles (gray) by giving up 3 prospects from a talent rich minor league system.
it could have been mitchell or rocket (warren) pitching.
all rise reborn or the umps not calling a strike on him when pitch below his knees?
yankee pitching dominating the leading team in runs scored in the mlb.
houseton - 3 hits. 2 walks & catchers interference scored their first 3 runs. an error let in the 4th run.
is there another player & fan more demonstrative than the todd father?

The Yankees have been informed that they are OUT in the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes.

Looks like there was nothing Cashman could do here. It also looks like, reading the tea leaves, that the Mariners are his inevitable destination.

@BryanHoch

Cashman said that Ohtani’s reps told him they were very impressed with team’s presentation, but no matter how good it was, the Yankees couldn’t make themselves West Coast or a smaller market.

Bummer. Kid doesn't like the Big Apple Stage--or he craves fresh Ahi Tuna too much.
