What was the big hype regarding this kid? He barely gets any minutes and when he does he rarely takes the shot. What gives?

He wasn't hyped at all.. In fact some questioned whether he was a big east level recruit .. But he does have a defined D1 skill and it is only his 3rd game.. Give him a chance .

Yeah - let's wait until his 4th game. Then we can all say how much he sucks.

Too early to call out Marco. From what I've seen he has yet to get a real good look. Defenders are glued to him...just wait until he's open like we allowed Heslip to be. That will show us what we have. He has 0 ball handling skills, terrible defensive skills, but he can shoot. Don't give up on him yet.

Suspected he was gonna have trouble taking minutes from Garrett and Pointer but now Balamou is in his way also.

Balamou looks great. He jumped into the rotation with fantastic overall play. Can't deny a kid like that.

We don't really have the ball movement or an inside player to kick it out to him for open looks at this point. He doesn't look very comfortable yet either. That should change.

Borgault seems like a situational insert, especially when the 2 missing guys get here.

he's barely broken a sweat yet so I dont know how anyone can say what he does or doesnt look like. Meanwhile Garrett who looked like Mr All World against Detroit has turned into the invisible man

I can see him eventually getting more playing time when we face a zone. Got to be patient with these young kids.

Agree 100%..he has not been given a chance...he got in the game tonight for what seemed like a minute....his body language at half time and thereafter gave me the impression he was not happy...

If we dont use these games to develop our other outside threats, when do we do it?

I'm sure Lav will get him a decent amount against these weaker OOC opponents. I also agree he looked pissed off, and rightfully so, but don't worry he will get his time. Ideally, against FGC (let's hope) we are up by 20 or 30 late and Marco gets a chunk of time there. This game was very close until the last few minutes really, so Lav probably didn't want to gamble putting him in. He got scored on easily on multiple occasions early. That may have been another reason. Either way though he will get his time soon. I don't think he will be as good a 3 pt shooter as Harrison, but he will be at least a 35% guy with a few hot games.

Haha

So now Marco and Amir are on the hit list......

Brady Heslip doesn't create his own shot. He spots up and fires away. We need a PG to create shots for him. Right now the only ppl scoring are those who can create on their own- Harrison, Greene and Karr. The others need someone leading them.

A guy who is a spot up shooter needs a team that rotates the ball well to find the open man. Right now to an extent, it looks like every man for himself, and Borgault can easily get lost - for now. As we know, Harrison is a guy who primarily looks for himself as the first and second option, and maybe the third.

If he is a legit 3 point shooter with range, the team will deliver the ball to him in his favorite spots. Borgault didn't appear to be in the flow tonight, and if he is a great spot up shooter, will have to move constantly without the ball to get open. I remember my kid being coached by a local guy who set a lot of records at Fairfield in the 70s, and he always spoke about flashing to an open spot o n the floor in synch with ball rotation, and being squared up to shoot before receiving the ball. The guy was a scoring machine in his day, and understood what he had to do to get open.

It's way too early to assess the kid, period. But he is going to have to prove he can consistently stick an open shot, and then his teammates will look to deliver him the ball.

He wasn't taken out because of the fact that he can't find a shot.. He was taken out because on 2 plays in a 2 minute span he was late rotating on defense and we gave up 4 points u der the basket. If he's going to pout because he was benched then I'd suggest he make the most of his minutes rather than screwing up. For instance, Balamou who I saw something special in from the get go and now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon was able to make his stamp on games in the time he was allotted. This kid messed up agregiously twice on D and can't figure out a way to move without the ball.

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't notice that.

When he does get in it seems like his teams mates do not try to get him opened IT ALSO FALLS ON THEM
if you want to get someone open on a pick you can but I do not like their skill set in setting up a pick When is the last time they picked and rolled It is an important skill set Boxing out is something else coach needs to work on If we have trouble with HC we are in for a 10 12 win season Perhaps they will wake up and maybe Sanchez will be a game changer

Hopefully, when Jamal Branch is eligible, his ability to run the team will benefit players like Marco and Amir.

The reason that Marco got burried on the bench is because Felix picked the team up with his energy, especially at the defensive end. This kid's got a motor that doesn't quit, plays tough D and is not afraid to mix it up inside. He deserved the minutes he took from Marco, Amir and SirDom.
