will be the emcees at the annual basketball tip-off dinner at The Grand Hyatt on Oct. 20.

I have no problem with Boomer but come on Carton is no fan of St. John's or its basketball program.

Actually I thought he was great with the in-studio interview of Lavin last season.

Carton is a Syracuse grad and rarely says anything good about SJU.

Very popular show, means they will talk about it coming up, means people will listen and pay attention. Pretty smart move. Better than retreading Bruce Beck out there for the 80th time.

Boomer loves his teams in red, just like me  He'll be great.

It's always good for the St. John's if people are going to hear positive things about the basketball program and the university. This event is always great fun and this year should be one of the best ever since it will feature Mullin, Coach Carnesecca, Coach Lavin, Coach Keady, Coach Kim and Hubie Brown.

However, few if any people are going to pay $1,000 a seat because Boomer and Carton are emceeing the dinner. Hopefully people will listen, but I don't expect them to open their checkbooks.

That said, we shouldn't be surprised to hear Carton taking shots at St. John's from time to time and talking about how Syracuse is NY's college team. What else would you expect from him. He has had negative things to say about the academic quality of the school as well as the campus and the hoop program in the past and that is unlikely to change.

Speaking of Beck, he will be the emcee at the annual president's dinner at the Waldorf next month.

Needless to say Francesa has been put in the penalty box by the university.

i didnt realize you had to attend such a proud journalistic institution such as syracuse to make "poop and heiney" jokes and laugh at the word underpants. i imagine he's a real d-bag off air as well. we don't need this guy pretending to be supportive of our program. shame on us.

Boomer has sold his soul teaming up with Carton{short rippoff of Howard Stern with out the interviewing talent}

St.johns cant find a host?

How about Ron Darling I saw him at a couple Johnny games over the years & is more interesting than boring boomer & vulgar cartoon

Darling pitched ag. stj's in college & lives in NYC

Ron Darling was the guest speaker at the St. John's baseball dinner in Feb. 2010.

He was excellent, second to none !

thanks did not know
Ron did a good job then swell!

If Chris Mullin is being honored did he ever get his degree? If so Will they finally retire his #20???

I thought Francesca *remains* in the penalty box. I wonder if he'll ever work his way out, either via his checkbook, or some continued kind words of the school to whom he owes a debt of gratitude.  I'm still trying to figure out if, when the mic is off, and he's out on the streets of NYC, if he's classy or a prima donna type. Anyone really know? Any genuine encounters either way?

I'm not sure he gives a crap whether he's in the penalty box or not.

I agree I wouldnt think ppl will fork over 1k to see them emcee. I was more saying they will create some attention by talking about it on the show and also it puts us on the radar for the rest of the year.

Hard to believe this vulgar, crass, slimy, misogynistic, ungrammatical, dimwitted, weaselly mental midget is a graduate of anything, let alone a university. (Other than that, I think he's great.)

Carton is an acquired taste, however as a Syracuse guy he is completely against the ACC move and spoke harshly against it even against Boeheim, who he likes.
