Boogie (Days And) Nights

I GUARANTEE I'm going to lose my mind reading all this. So much action in this thread today that silly me thought he was committing.

Any player of his caliber makes us a better team on paper. Not one player guarantees anything. Most think we are a better team with him on the roster, which makes perfect sense. Right now ESPN has us as preseason number 3 and there are only 2 numbers better than 3....

Good end to the thread until some real news is shared

I guess I’m reading different posts then you but what LJSA stared and SJU will rock has said clearly implies that but we all know what your post is all about and unfortunately has nothing to do with the topic.

What I can say is that I am more then satisfied with the talent brought in to date as I’m sure coach Pitino is as well.
That's the difference between you and me, I'm never satisfied.

Yeah, it's ok for the blue bloods to get as many top players as possible, but ohhh God forbid SJU does the same, who do they think they are, right.

Well I hope SJU get Boogie, and to whoever doesn't like it, well that's to freaking bad.

Damn wish I had 20billion, I'd give Rick 100million and tell him to get 15 stars on this team, let the complainers complain.

The more, the merrier baby.

Frankly, expectations should be tempered period. Sanon and Jackson had good freshman years, not great; in 52 minutes of court time per game between the two of then they combined for a little over 2 assists a game. Hopkins last full year at Providence, 22-23, he averaged a bit over 2 assists in 35 minutes a game.

You can try and ping me all you want but I realized very quickly your utter sports ignorance when you went into your “Jenkins act” years ago with me insisting Brett Baty was a sure fire future NL batting champ.
If you were a pie, you’d be a sweetie pie.

There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. There ain't enough ball to go around (probably already), let alone adding a guard who thinks he should be in the NBA already and wants to prove it.

I don't see how we are attractive to him, we will already have a dog fight for minutes, and we know Rick doesn't guarantee minutes to anyone. 7 players getting quality minutes is fairly common, sometimes 8 players but that's a bit rare. Look up the box scores from the top teams in the tournament this year. Most teams ran with 7 main players.

There are only 5 players in the country that would impact Boogie’s minutes and none of them are on this roster. That would not factor in his decision here at all.

I don't think a guy from the Big Sky or someone who's never played PG will scare him from playing point guard...

He's trying to make the NBA as a distributor. I'd agree if he was a 4 auditioning to be a 3. I don't know if anyone will be as unselfish and team-first as Kadary was last year, but we do have some guys that are clearly not chemistry concerns. Sellers needs to be set up in the corner by teammates. Zuby and Ayo are team-first all the way. Prey deferred all year as a freshman. Mitchell is a glue guy.

Florida is the other school prominently mentioned with him, and they just brought in Lee to start at PG.

If by the grace of the college basketball gods the stars align and Fland comes here, I would not worry about how the staff will share minutes. They will not say no to Fland over concerns of a 7 or 8 man rotation. Darling becomes the backup and they go from there.

PG is literally the only spot where we can use a starter who needs 25mpg. Every other position is pretty much done (and in a great spot, at that).

And they laughed at me when I said Boogie Fland should get his own thread. 17 pages later and WHO'S LAUGHING NOW, HUH??

Apologies if this was mentioned, but are we actively pursuing him?
He's in the NBA draft. He's projected in the second round. He entered the transfer portal and thus is presumably not going back to Arkansas, which filled his spot essentially the same way we decided to fill out our roster without RJ. So if he pulls out of the NBA draft and goes back to college he needs a landing spot that (1) needs a PG and (2) he can get paid and (3) will help his NBA readiness.

Since he is from here and is friends with Ian Jackson and we do not have a no-brainer high-end PG on the roster filling that spot and we probably have money and Pitino is Pitino, if you connect the dots St. John's should be an option if he returns to college. I am sure there will be others (I assume Nova would bring him in and play him over freshman Acaden Lewis). But one would think we would be both interested and in the mix.

That's my non-expert, uniformed, speculation-only summary. Others who actually know stuff may think differently, I don't know.

My only thought on this. If Jackson signed on (no minor recruit) with the idea he was going to play point, why would he be so happy about Fland coming? I know there is some history, but business is business and if Jackson shows he can play point his NBA stock goes up.

Jackson made sure to announce he was not just coming to SJU, but to play point, something I don't think I've ever seen before. Makes me think the roster is done, period, but if I'm wrong that's fine too.
