Bobby Gonzalez Sighting

A firecracker. Those guys inevitably crash and burn. A good recruiter though. Wonder if a major school takes a chance on him?

I'm wondering if a major school with an inexperienced head coach takes a chance on him as an assistant. . .

I don’t know much about him, but based on that article, he seems like he would be a quality assistant coach for us.

Yes, if Richard Speck isn't available.
Remember the Pete Gillen line about Bobby G-he makes coffee nervous.
I've had one interaction with him in my life, but the line is 101 percent true. I was at the PSAL championship between Lincoln and Robeson. I had pretty good seat, a few rows from floor, and he keep running back and forth in front of me. Then he sat down next to me, starting talking a million miles an hour to me about his recruit, then he abruptly took off running. Weirdest encounter ever. I thought he was coked to the gills.

I don't think he could work for us. He can't legally be that close to the Mall at Short Hills.

You’re braver than me. I was thinking the same thing! Could he/would he meld in or clash and grate on everybody? The guy is ‘talented’. Thinking it hinges on whether he would see it as a new chance at a major level, working with HOF NBA legends or be uncontrollable.
Would CM and his Staff even ‘entertain’ this notion or is it totally implausible?

I’m sure he was ‘coked to the gills’ and maybe that’s why he ‘made coffee nervous’.

He’s burned a lot of bridges for good reason. Will probably try to sell part of the “Great Wall” shortly.

Someone post a new Mike Rice article so we can get back to talking about a crazy guy who has actually rehabbed himself.

I know this is the proverbial ‘thinking outside the box’—and too much of that gets one to the looney bin!
But we are in need of another recruiter and a good x/o coach and this guy has major Div 1 HC experience—but because he has crashed & burned—he might be available to us an assistant coach.
I get it’s highly improbable the Staff would consider this.
Just noodling.

Not unless his back is covered.

If we ever hire a former Manhattan College coach ever again it will be as mythical a fail as The Myth of Sisyphus.
This nut job had maybe two successful years as a coach and has been riding them ever since.

Maybe a Queens College coach?

You've got a beef with Queens College?

I'd be all for their current coach as an assistant if he ever gets fired at Manhattan. Although I know guys here did say the résumé fudging was a deal breaker a few years ago. His seat has got to be getting warm there.
