It's never too late to come home. For 2 million a year he can have a nice place in Queens or Long Island and a vacation home in North Carolina. I would sign up for that gig.
Far more likely that he'd try his hand at politics in NC before coming to SJU to coach. I don't think many posters realize just how hard and how long it takes to turn a team into a program. He's got a well oiled machine and comfortable gig at Davidson...I know I wouldn't leave if I were him.
Apparently the posters on this site don't believe that. They think you should have instant success.
Building a program is something else. St. John's had a "program" when Looie left but it has been a series of missteps since. Lavin is trying to restore that but it takes time.
