Bob McKillop Retiring

A few years back I was able to join a Web call with McKillop, it was for coaches and was passed along by my son's AAU coach.

This was pre-covid, but he was concerned about the major conferences increasing their conference schedule (ie fewer games with mid majors) and for immediate transfers as he felt both of these would make being a mid-major that much harder and clearly that is happening.

Was interesting regarding Curry. He had been scouting him and went to a tournament where he was playing. At the tournament they ended up putting the best players in the main gym. Mckillop indicated all of the top level programs and coaches went to this main gym to see these top players. Curry did not make it and Mckillop was able to watch Curry with almost no one there. Interestingly, Curry did not do well in this game but McKillop was very impressed how Curry kept listening to his coach regardless of his performance.

After Curry committed to Davidson, he kept getting better and better. McKillop referenced 'bad actors' who are out on the recruiting trail and it was becoming evident Curry could play at a higher level program. In spite of this interest, Curry honored his commitment to Davidson and the rest as they say is history.
