Bo Ryan

agreed. and when we win this game, I hope you enjoy the season a little more.

I didn't enjoy it and I doubt if you did either..

Going out of your way to mock someone, huh?

I'm convinced you're a miserable person. You can't tell me differently.

GEE, i thought we had reached friendlier ground.. You're the one who always throws the snide comments.. You and pmg can dish but, not take it.

I didn't enjoy the game. I don't enjoy watching my team - my kids for example, getting out-hustled. I wished you to enjoy the season more after a win. Glad to see that you're the classy guy tot take the opportunity to rub it in after your team(?) loses.

I guess it's ok for you to throw down a dis, before the game and belly ache about it afterwards.. Cheap shots thrown when you threw yours were uncalled for. Disagree but, don't be a jerk about it.

I WAS JUST RETURNING THE FAVOR.

Exactly where did I throw a cheap shot or otherwise at you Mr Victim? Never been a part of your bickering one way or the other. My point was that after the past 10+ years there is finally a season to look forward to and enjoy. If you waste your time complaining, you'll miss it. But if that is your agenda, live with it. Just don't give me your fake victim nonsense.

Bo Ryan reminds me a lot of Looie C. Wins 20 every year with lesser talent; Wins close games and knocks off superior talent but doesn't do much in the tournament. Makes you appreciate Looie more like fine aged wine.

Big Ten basketball is sometimes underestimated by East coast basketball fans but there is generally one Big Ten school in the Final Four each season

Coach C would never had played a zone with these horses. Lavin is turning them into donkies. However, Wisconsin is full of talented players who were highly recruited. They are also Wisconsin smart and apparently learn to prepare for teams in practice. SJ, on the other hand, seems to be a good team to bet against in games like this.

Izzo was definitely Ryan's John Thompson the year MSU beat Florida to win it all.

If you look at the players Wisconsin put on the floor last night, you could see why a younger team was still disciplined, moved the ball admirably, and played a team game. Give Ryan credit, but his kids are not as athletic, and likely have played their whole lives being part of systems in order to become D1 players. If slower, less athletic guys don't learn how to play ball the way Wisconsin did last night, they end up in low D1, or even D2. Charles Barkley likes to say that basketball rewards a lot of talents, and the Wisconsin guys are all highly skilled, better shooters and passers, who must play within a system to thrive. Give Ryan our superior athletes, and he would have a harder time getting them to play into his offense scheme, and likely with worse results.

A lot of truth there Beast. Ryan recruits to his system and obviously it works. Great athletes play to their instinctive strength.
Sometimes they will revert to them during crunch time either with a great play or a dumb play depending upon the moment.
Look at Boeheim's Carter Williams, killing it in the pros yet restricted to a degree with the zone and system at Syracuse. No
Wisconsin players are tearing up the NBA.

A lot of teams are going to have I zone a Lot this year with he hand checking enforcement.

The whistles are ridiculous. STJ was in the bonus with like 15 mins left in the 2nd half last night.

Strongly dissagree. Give Bo Ryan St johns caliber guys, and he molds them into a top 10 team. Between him and Lavin Ryan is simply the far superior coach with any group of guys, in any conference, with any experience level.

Yea, you're right. Gene Keady should volunteer to coach under Ryan so he could learn a thing or two. Don't take your ship too close to the edge of your world, you'll fall off. Sheesh, you are making the guy into an Einstein. He had FRESHMEN in their first D1 game out discipline us on the floor, make their wide open shots, make backdoor cuts, hit the open man, and instinctively drive to dish. By tournament time, his team will be winning games by 100 points.

Talking about Gene Keady, can they give out a Keady bobblehead doll this year? I have Lou and Lavin and would love a Keady :)

Would that be Keady the distinguished old man or a younger Keady with the crazy combover?

What freshmen did Ryan have out there that were doing anything? None!

These are the players who played last night for Wisconsin:

Brust - SR
Jackson - JR
Dekker- SO
Gasser - RS JR
Dukan - RS JR
Marshall - RS SO
Kaminsky - JR
Hayes - FR
Koenig - FR

The two frosh played a combined 9 minutes (Hayes played 8, while Koenig played 1). Hayes scored 2 points, while Koenig scored more points than I did last night.

Brust, Jackson, Dekker, Gasser, and Dukan were all in double figures. Kaminsky scored 2, while Marshall scored 4 points.

So, we were essentially beaten by 3 SRs, a JR, and a 5-star sophomore. Wisconsin freshmen did as much, last night, as any of us on this board. In no way, is Wisconsin a young team. They may have some young players on their bench, but they barely played, if at all, last night. I hope that cleared it up for anyone thinking Wisconsin is so youthful.

No need to allow facts to get in the way of a good discussion.

You bring up a interesting point, Beast. I just wonder what Keady's role is with these players during practice. I would love to get inside his head as he sees turnovers, awful defense, poor shooting from our athletes.. I suppose he's resigned to the players Lavin puts on the Court and doesn't want to interfere with his protege.

The Keady of his Purdue days would have ripped several of our players new rear ends for their play last night, without a doubt. And, he would have likely gotten a Technical or two to show he wasn't going to continue to watch the performance on the Court. As a aside the refs did a good job but, sometimes a Coach has to step up, show some fire in the b elly and take a ejection for the team. Calhoun did that all the time when his teams looked awful. And, it had nothing to do with the officiating.

That's not Lavin's style but, maybe he needs to get in some of our players faces..

Keady has no role in practice. He is not allowed one. He is not a coach. That's been said sine he came here. His title is special assistant to the head coach.

Lavin seems to have a tendency to touch his collared shirt by putting his hand where the tie would ordinarily be quite often during the game.
