Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end.

I actually told my wife, we'll be back to the Final Four again, no worries.

And we now know who is responsible for the St John's Jinx.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

lawmanfan, I feel totally responsible and a jinx, when we got to the FF in Lexington, a St. John's alum/fan who was a buddy, wanted me to go with him; but my wife and I had just had our first child about a month before, so I said to my wife I shouldn't go. She told me to go.

I said no, I'll go next year.

True (but dumb) story.

Later on I made a promise to myself, if we get back to the Final Four, I am going come hell or high water. It would take a team of wild horses to keep me away.

I am running out of time.

He was Ebony in the SI story about he and Chris. Chris being Ivory of course. True great Redman.

Mike Lupica wrote an article and referred to the two as Butch Cassidy and the Flatbush Kid.

Billy Goodwin is a great Redmen Player . That 82-83 Team with David Russell, Billy , Chris Mullin , Jeff Allen , Ron Stewart ,,Kevin Williams , Etc . Was a great team . Billy played forward even though he was only about 6"4"  . Him sitting on the Rim should be a ever lasting Memory of our Glory Years in College Bssketball !

What a team, watched the Springfield win over UNC on TV and was going bonkers.

Didn't we have another really good player around that time with the last name Washington?

Was also at that Big Easr championship game with my two sons who were 9 and 7 years of age. Afterwards took them to the exit where the players exited the Garden.As we stood thee the redmen started to exit. Having nothing but a Dungeon and Dragon paperback they had brought with them I encouraged then to try and get some autographs> Almost 40 years later, somewere in my house is that book with those autographs including Chris'. Not one player they approached turned them down. A great ending to a great day!

Larry Washington was his name.
Billy was a hell of a nice guy also in addition to be a great ball player. As others have pointed out he was the glue guy on a great team that finished 3rd in the polls and he ended up being a third round draft pick.
nice to see he is doing well.

Great story jackfro, but I was worried it was going to end with the players not being polite.....glad to see I was wrong.
