Big East Top Fosh
I like Earlington. My hope is he becomes one of those strong guys who’s not quite pf not quite sf but is big enough to rebound and defend and savy enough to pass and play-make. Just kind of fits in.
Exactly. I forget the guy’s name, but he was a transfer from MS State, maybe(?), about 6’4”, and a rebounding maven.
Marcellus is a tough, physical, kid. Maybe...in time, just maybe.

Earlington or Williams?

Earlington. I think Williams showing more upside, right now.
To me Earlington is an undersized end of bench player, especially since he is late to the game and played power position in high school. That said, he has really worked hard in off season to lose weight and tone up his body. He looks like a different player. I wonder if he and staff are working on his ball handling and outside shooting skills to one day properly position him. At 6’4 it will be hard for him to do much in the Big East on the interior in my opinion, but in the long run could he ever develop decent wing skills? We’ll see.
He is not a wing player at this level, doesnt have the quickness or ball handling from what ive seen. He can only lose so much weight he played defensive end. He is a faceup 4 who can bang inside for rebounds. His height might limit his low post abilities at this level but he compensates with some decent faceup skills. He can beat taller weaker players off the dribble with his strength and he can knock down jumpers too.
Not sure how it will translate to college but he has played against bigger post players in HS and AAU already. Height is overrated anyway, Bonzie Colson is about the same size and he had no problems in the ACC. Another example i've given in the past is Jamine Peterson from Providence/Boys&Girls HS, averaged 19 and 10 at 6'4"/6'5" tops. Not saying ME will be as good as those guys but just giving examples. If he fails it wont be because of his height.
Considering his football pedigree I expect him to be one of the physically strongest guys in the league from day 1. One of our biggest weaknesses last year was strength/muscle, he at least brings that to the table. Also what I like about him is he is a winner and helped Bosco, more of a football school, to back to back state finals games if im not mistaken. I don't expect much from him as a freshman but I wouldn't be surprised to see Mullin go to him if we are in foul trouble and need someone who can give us a few solid minutes of tough hard nosed basketball. He may actually be more ready to contribute than Roberts even though JR has the higher ceiling.
Our 18 class has grown on me, I think they are a little underrated right now. Add Figueroa to the 3 freshman thats a pretty strong class for us that should age well. Feeling good the closer the season gets, can't wait.

There a lot of unknowns about the three Freshman. If Heron is eligible we don’t need much out of them barring injury (not trying to jinx anyone). Williams will have to be given a shot to play a few minutes when we need some extra height but I agree that Earlington’s strength and athletic skill could come into play at some point. Greg Williams athleticsm will give him a chance at some point as well.

I got logged out before I completed my lengthy post. Each of the three freshman can make an impact. Hard to tell who or when.
