# 10 Greg Williams, St. John’s

Guard | 6-foot-3 | 190 lbs | No. 154 overall

One of two players in the 2018 recruiting class for St. John’s, Greg Williams could make an immediate impact on the program. Even though the Red Storm are returning a ton of talent from last year and are bringing in some transfers, the roster still lacks depth. After the top four or five players, there is a lot of unproven talent and therefore plenty of available minutes off the bench. Regardless of whether or not Mustapha Heron receives his waiver to play this season, Williams could receive a substantial role as a reserve at either guard position.

Ranked just outside of the nation’s top-150 for the class, Williams brings a varied skill set. A capable scorer, playmaker, and defender with solid size and length, he can play positions 1-through-3. In addition, he is an excellent rebounder for his size, which helps him create transition opportunities out of thin air off of missed shots. He can push the pace of games and sees the floor well in the fast break.

Did we lose some kids along the way?

He probably meant incoming freshmen
But even then he is wrong
Some writers just can't count
Different side of the brain

The article the blurb was taken from is entitled "Big East Basketball: Top 10 incoming impact freshmen for 2018-19" so in that sense it is a two man class.

But we have three incoming freshman recruits - Williams, Roberts & Earlington.

I think the key word is 'impact': 'Top Ten Incoming Impact Freshmen...'.
Well, I hope, it makes Marcellus angry and he busts out.

The 6'8" listing on Josh Roberts is looking a bit generous.
I've been saying for a while that he's probably 6'6 1/2"

Which is fine for college if he adds muscle without losing athleticism. Hopefully a four-year guy, and doesn't split after averaging 2 ppg this season.

To me Earlington is an undersized end of bench player, especially since he is late to the game and played power position in high school. That said, he has really worked hard in off season to lose weight and tone up his body. He looks like a different player. I wonder if he and staff are working on his ball handling and outside shooting skills to one day properly position him. At 6’4 it will be hard for him to do much in the Big East on the interior in my opinion, but in the long run could he ever develop decent wing skills? We’ll see.
On his Instagram Roberts lists himself as 6'10" 334lbs.

If Keita is 6'9 then so is Roberts imo. They appear the same height next to each other. Josh has gained some weight and is around 220+ from what I saw of him Saturday. He is no Tony Prince that's for sure.

I would be surprised if he sticks for more than a year.

No matter where he goes he's going to need to take a huge leap if he thinks a pro career is possible. I'd like to see him stay, leave here a quick and ripped 245, and try to hook up with a pro team who thinks he can be a TE.

We seem to have soured on this kid's potential fast.
While few predicted he'd be more than a bench player early on, i think many here thought he'd stay the full 4 years--and over time--be a meaningful contributor.
I don't know enough to dispute the 'new wisdom'.
Just a bit surprised as well as curious.

I like Earlington. My hope is he becomes one of those strong guys who’s not quite pf not quite sf but is big enough to rebound and defend and savy enough to pass and play-make. Just kind of fits in.
