This is a NYC show so long as St. John's and Seton hall are around, and it remains one of the best tournaments in the country.
Great job by the BE AND MSG.
Interestingly enough that isn’t correct...
From Jerry Carino article:
“Big East commissioner Val Ackerman responded by pushing to get the Garden contract extended immediately, USA Today Network New Jersey has learned. She had a key chip in her pocket: The Big East Tournament posted an average attendance of 18,790 fans in 2018, more than any other league in the country — and 3,500 more than the Big Ten drew in the same building.”
BET had proven to be the premier conference tourney despite the size of our league, and the numbers prove it...
The big ten held their entire tournament at msg? When?
You're kidding right?
I really don't have the time to pay attention to much more than sju basketball during the season. I travel a lot for work and was away from new york while the big ten was here. The BET lights up the city and local sports reporting. Did the big ten do that?
I actually thought you were kidding.
You, me and New Yorkers barely noticed that the BIG was in town and they didn't do Rutgers any favor by coming here. This is and always will be Big East country. The ACC and Big 10 and other Power 5 conferences have plotted to weaken or destroy the Big East conference since we became the premier basketball conference in the 80's. Like you I only care about our schools and get really pissed when Power 5 State schools commit every infraction they can get away with while smaller private institutions get hammered by the NCAA. While we're at it, I don't think VCU, as a public institution, should qualify either. Saint Louis and Dayton, two Catholic schools would suffice and their brands would benefit greatly from Big East association. Dayton alone could fill one quarter of the Garden in the Big East tourney. We don't need Uconn just to fill seats over 4 days just to please MSG.
