Big East MSG Extend Relationship as per Zags

Excellent news. Hoping we have almost as many games there this tourney as our regular season

Yes! Takes all the other nonsense talk about other conferences moving their tourneys to MSG off the table for quite a while.

Great job by Val Ackerman and team to lock this down early.

Let Big East keep winning, hopefully w/ legacy BE teams leading the pack and filling the area...

Let the UCONN debate pick up again

Once the league split, it wasn't totally clear which direction the Big East would head. Would the conference fade into a mid major, or stay hanging with the major conferences. Well, with announcements like this, as well as all of the success the conference has had including 2 national titles and a consistent RPI in the top 3, I don't think things could have turned out any better for the Big East. Future looking bright too.

Huge news overall for our league. It will keep any speculation off the table and help our recruiting and exposure without any questions about the future of our league tournament.

Some conferences, like the ACC or even Big Ten, could promise better teams and attendance, and even be willing to pay more.

This is a NYC show so long as St. John's and Seton hall are around, and it remains one of the best tournaments in the country.

Great job by the BE AND MSG.

I don't think anyone could have done a better job than Val has done since taking over. We are lucky to have her leading the conference through the initial uncertain times. Every concern we had 5 years ago has been addressed (tv contract, keeping MSG, branding, level of competition) in a way that keeps us competitive within the other power conferences.

Val Ackerman on possible expansion: "Nothing's cooking in terms of expansion."

Interestingly enough that isn’t correct...

From Jerry Carino article:

“Big East commissioner Val Ackerman responded by pushing to get the Garden contract extended immediately, USA Today Network New Jersey has learned. She had a key chip in her pocket: The Big East Tournament posted an average attendance of 18,790 fans in 2018, more than any other league in the country — and 3,500 more than the Big Ten drew in the same building.”

BET had proven to be the premier conference tourney despite the size of our league, and the numbers prove it...

Absolutely massive news!!!!

We're fortunate the conference has done such an excellent job despite us being irrelevant for most of our time in it.

On another note, Big East teams have had several massive games at MSG this year alone. SJU over Duke and SHU over UK. I'd like to see Nova/Hall continue to schedule neutral games here, and maybe Georgetown/PC will start doing that too. Much rather see them do it than teams like Syracuse/UConn.

Hearing Big East paid significantly more in new deal with MSG.

It’s worth it. Plus the Dolans are scum so there’s no way they wouldn’t leverage the competition for it.

The big ten held their entire tournament at msg? When?

Which was my point in the first place. People undersell how good of a basketball product our league is. We decimated Big ten numbers last year. Yet you put this stuff out there as if they wanted the crown they can take it. Ain’t happening...

I really don't have the time to pay attention to much more than sju basketball during the season. I travel a lot for work and was away from new york while the big ten was here. The BET lights up the city and local sports reporting. Did the big ten do that?

They tried. Just didn't work. They had all the ads on light posts and such. White noise.

Thanks Moose, I really value your broad knowledge of sports in general. My focus is much narrower.
