They are having an interesting debate on FS2. Give your 4 people ( doesn't have to be just players ) that signify the big east to you

Ewing,Mullin,Gavitt,Calhoun for me
Looie and John Thompson Derrick Coleman would be on my next 4

Honorable Mention PJ Carlesimo for Realfan :)

Boeheim over Coleman any day.  Jay Wright. Need to do a Mt Rushmore for players, coaches and others.

Hard mixing players & coaches

If I had to, it's Louie/Mullin/Ewing/Thompson

That's who's faces come to mind for me without thinking as it's most engrained in my head as I just started watching college basketball right then but I was ~ 10 and they have been the most celebrated in media since.

Jay Wright would be right there though now.

Yeah you are Wright ( pun intended ) I should have Jay in there. Boeheim I cant because he's still coaching in the ACC and I hate the focking ACC ( no fault of his own but still I hate that conference )

I think the two most significant people in the history of the conference are Dave Gavitt and Patrick Ewing.  They'd have to be on any list.

Looie may be the most beloved figure in the history of the conference.  Even opposing fans remember him warmly.

Jim Calhoun is #4, for authoring maybe the greatest turnaround of a program in college basketball history.

A lot of guys left out, obviously.  Boehiem, Mullin, Wright, Thompson, just to name a few.

Very fair and when I think big east your 4 their images would come to my head first. Calhoun to me is just one of the best coaches ever and turned that program from crap to super elite

Ok if there was a Mount Rushmore for coaches for me it would be Looie,Thompson,Calhoun and Wright

Not sure how you can leave Boeheim off any coaches Mount Rushmore if you're going by achievement as much as I dont like him. He did win a national championship not to mention Big East championships

When it comes to players, I'd say Mullin, Ewing, Iverson and either Pearl Washington or Berry.

How about Mount Rushmore of fans?  I nominate Mike Maher

The player debate might be interesting because for some it's an age thing. Early 80's the first team I rooted for was Houston Cougars but I followed the big east back then a little just didnt have a rooting interest. I became a St Johns fan in 87. So Mullin and Ewing definitely 2 out of my 4 Coleman would be 3 for me and I'd probably go with Ray Allen or Terry Dehere or Kerry Kittles as my 4th ( I know Berry was better but I wasn't a st johns fan watching all the games back then ). Heck for me while I know Pearl was better Sherman Douglas was more of a memory

LOL. Just put my pic on a bronx pale ale can that's enough for me :)

Hear you on Coleman for sure MJM, but it's hard for me to compare any of Douglas, Kittles or even Ray Allen to Pearl or Iverson as college players. Both Pearl and Iverson were pretty much unguardable.

My under appreciation of Iverson definitely had to do with my hate of Georgetown. Pearl I just dont remember as much. But Akeem Clyde Reid Gettys and Alvin Franklin I knew well :)

Think we definitely need to break up the old big east vs new big east.     who can forget pittsnoggle!!!

Players:
Pearl
Ewing
Mullin
Rasheem Dunn

Coaches:
Thompson
Boeheim
Calhoun
Wright

Obviously all those guys won championships and Louie didn't. So couldn't put him there. Gavitt shouldn't be there as a coach, but he should have his own mount as league founder, all by himself.
