Big East Financials: How does it make money and where does it go?

Basketball and football conferences will have no bearing on either sport. Basketball will be its own entity with its own conferences. This is where I see the trajectory going.

There is only so much money that ESPN and FoxSports will spend for broadcast rights, and every conference will be competing for a portion of the ESPN & Fox broadcast budgets.

You can be certain that any deal which FoxSports reaches with the expanded B1G will include broadcast rights for an expanded inventory of B1G men's basketball games which FoxSports will air thereby decreasing available money and broadcast of Big East games which could trivialize and make the Big East less prominent.

So yeah, the broadcast rights for more expanded SEC and B1G can have a negative effect on the Big East.

The league that can be pillaged is the A-10. Do they have CFB teams? Adding one of the top programs from there will boost their recruiting power. I don't think the Nova would want SJU in the league. St Louis is intriguing because it gives Creighton a closer opponent.

Gonzaga won't come the logistics
Biggest question.

Does the BE conference get added value by including any of these teams.

Here's another factor with Gonzaga. Mark Few will be 60 this year. How long does he plan to coach? Is it a guarantee the program will continue to be a powerhouse once he leaves?

You can say that about any team, though. If they don't stay in-house, that would be an attractive job. It's not like it was when Monson first took over -- the foundation has already been built.
