Big East and the NBA

Recently a guy who's been close to the program stated that the Robert Morris game was deliberately thrown. I didn't pay much attention to him at the time but in retrospect it does make you wonder a bit. Did anyone else hear about this?

IMO, it's irresponsible to post certain things 'til we hear about it through hardcore facts or media (although, media isn't always factual, but you get the drift). This is one of 'em.

Robert Morris College beat Kentucky in the NITs the previous season. Would your source have us believe that Kentucky also "threw" the game? Of course not.

I don't believe StJ's threw the game. I believe it was merely the case of a solid mid/ low major team being excited to be in the NIT and the StJ's players not wanting to be there.

Time to move forward to the 2014/15 season.

Funny you should mention that. There are sources close to redmen.com who state
you deliberately post inane musings, and that you can't truly be this feckless.

Intentionally threw the game? No, I don't believe that. And this is one of the few situations where I agree, it's dangerous to post that type of rumor.

On the other hand, I absolutely believe that the staff was sending a message of some kind that game. Did they reward certain players or discipline others, with little regard to whether they won or loss? I think that's possible.

Jordan "rests" with a toothache.
Obekpa plays 11 minutes.
Hooper plays 28min

Branch couldn't get meaningful minutes all season, and he played 27 that night.

Something was up, but we weren't throwing the game.

Unless you are able to put a name to this statement along with facts backing it up, it is totally irresponsible to post it. Nonsense like this is disrespectful to the coaches and team.
I am trying to figure out what was the purpose in posting this??? Are you saying the coaches threw the game, or the players threw the game ???? To me it is total BS and I think the Moderators should remove your post. Can't believe a REAL St Johns fan would ever post something this inflammatory !!!!!

We didn't intentionally lose, but we did unintentionally suck

er, you are WRONG, Dinckie.

Official BE Standings indicate we were 5th, despite finishing with the same record as Xavier, Providence..

Look it up..We played 4th place finisher, PC IN BE 1ST ROUND BECAUSE WE FINISHED 5TH BASED ON SEEDINGS.

just setting the record straight for you IT'S WHAT i said.. not what you wrote.

It's still considered to be a tie for 3rd place. So, I guess we're dealing with semantics. You say enough foolishness that something halfway stuck.

Regardless, it's still one of your generic diss towards the staff. Can you please stop spamming? Thank you.

Seedings and standings are separate things, if I thought it worthwhile I'd explain the difference to you. Note on the official standings they make sure the proper term is utilized. But anywhere you look it will show that they officially finished T-3 in the standings whether you like it or not.

Initially, I thought that Jakarr's decision to leave was a major factor in Max's decision to transfer
Maybe, after playing a "career game" vs. Robert Morris, he decided that he would get more playing time somewhere else
